Broken speaker trim??

Wondering if someone can tell me whether the speaker trim (ring around grill) is part of the speaker or the threaded housing? Anyone know where I can get replacements?

I have a 2000 323i with the H/K system. This is the mid-range speaker in the middle of the door if that helps with the specific part number. Tried to attach picture. If it doesn't work, I'll try again.

Thanks!

I had the same problem on my '02 325i. The speakers on the front doors were replaced under warranty while I had the car in for service. I believe the whole speaker needs to be replaced.

The ring is part of the casing that holds the speaker. They can be seperated, but they're sold as a complete unit.

You may find a good deal on ebay, and get a spray paint at professional auto paint store. That's what I had to do.

If you're unable to find one, I have another black one that I could sell ya for $20. Just need to find it.

Here's a couple on ebay:

Thanks for the replies. Bitmouse, I actually need them for both doors.

Here's a link to a parts catalog diagram. So you're saying I need part #4?? Any idea where I can get this? Do I need part # 5 as well?

I can't find one on eBay to match the part number - and I'm a bit scared to buy one that is not H/K, as I'm sure the system will blow non H/K speakers.

part 5 is just the threaded ring which hold the speaker firmly in place. If you can buy the speaker w/out, you should be able to re-use this part.
Check EBAY item #8038638902...doesn't say HK, but looks like them. Compare you part numbers. If these aren't it, be patient...something will eventually be up for sale.

That is a very common problem, both mine broke (warranty replacement). I think there was a flaw with the plastic or something.

Ya, #4 is what you're looking for. Don't worry about the speaker being H/K. It can be replaced with the one that you have.

The piece that you're after is the plastic cover.

bitmouse - the one auction you listed is for an e36 speaker. Just want to verify that they are the same as on an e46. If so this opens up more options to find one on eBay.

Thanks.
