4.10s & UUC Evo3 SSK/DSSR
Took my car to John at emw1.com in Arcadia, California this weekend to get my 4.10 gears and SSK/DSSR done. I was going to do the SSK/DSSR myself, but I figured while it is there for the gears, why not avoid busting my lip or worse with that crazy tight shift knob and let a pro handle it.
Dropped the car off at 9am this morning and the gears and SSK/DSSR were done by 4:30pm. Got on the road back to Vegas and I have to say I am very pleased with the gears. The pickup is a night and day difference. I gotta find some time to get this thing to the track and see what it will do. The RPM increase is not too bad, roughly 500 rpm higher on the freeway. At 4K rpm, it used to do around 103mph and now I do 92mph. At 3500rpm I used to do 93mph and now I do 83mph. With the 4.10s, I can still cruise at 100mph at less than 4500rpm. So I don't think I gave up anything, just gained better acceleration.
No vibration, no howling, just a win win situation.
As for the shifter, when I was trading my Z06 for the M3, I remember test-driving the M3 and thinking to myself that the shifter was SOOOOO SLOPPY ON THE M3. I had a Breathless SSK with a Derlin Hardbar knob on the Z. I told myself that the shifter was going to be one of the first things to get upgraded. I ended up slacking on that, but now I am kicking myself for not doing it sooner. What a difference. Gear changes are no longer a guessing game, each shift is precise and sure (not to mention shorter). These things should be standard equipment on an M series car. Anyway, very pleased with the UUC Evo3 SSK and DSSR.
