I need some advise from the experts out there,
I have a 2000 328i and it has about 65K miles on it. I have been noticing some mineral deposits outside the thermostat for quite sometime now, probably about a little less than a year or so ago since i first noticed it. see pictures below. The independent dealer recommended that I have the thermostat replaced because the rubber gasket may be worn out which caused the white mineral deposit. He said this could eventually cause the thermostat to fail when the leak gets worse and will cause engine to overheat. Has anyone seen this kind of problem in their cars? on a separate note, I also have a cricket kind of noise in the engine bay, they said it's the belt tensioner that needs to be replaced. this noise only comes intermittenly however. Do i need to worry about this noise? thank you.. Last edited by newm5; 02-21-2006 at 11:35 AM. |
