Angel Eye Upgrade for Adaptive Xenon e60

I upgraded my Angel Eyes and I could not be happier!! Dave at Custom Angel Eyes is great to work with and was incredibly responsive to all of my emails and phone calls (very rare in the Aftermarket parts world). Sweet. This looks a lot easier than http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=335273 although which burns brighter is unknown.

Is it just one bulb per 2 angel eyes or a total of 4 bulbs to replace?

First, the other solution is only One ring lit up per headlight. Look at them again and you will see only one ring is lit.

If you have Adaptive Xenons, there is only one bulb per headlight. If you have non Xenon there are 2 bulbs per headlight.

does Adaptive Xenon come standard on 530i ?

Question....did you have to purchase locks separately for those 19" 645 wheels? I have the same color 525i and I thought those might not fit on the 5 series. Do you mind me asking how much you paid for them?

I ordered these a few weeks ago. I installed the first one and decided to test it before I reinstalled the headlight assembly (since it is a real PITA getting the headlight assembly out on an E60). When I turned the ignition on, the angel eyes flashed rapidly--like a strobe light--for 5 seconds or so. Dave (from custom angel eyes) said this was "normal" on an E60, so I returned them.

Dave was very upfront and easy to deal with, but I didn't want my angel eyes flashing for 5 seconds every time I started the car.

After the 5 seconds did they operate as normal? Mine are enroute and this is an iffy concern.

5 s of flashing was a turn off, eh? Assuming they worked as advertised afterwards, I don't think that would be too big a deal for me.

Can't say. After Dave told me that was "normal" on an E60 I uninstalled it. I didn't like my lights giving off a strobe light effect for 5 seconds every time I started the car--seemed too ricey for me. And given how complex the electronics are on this car, I didn't want one more thing to worry about.

The bulbs have a 5 year warranty. What's the worry?

maybe the wiring of to the bulbs, and all other electrical components of the car. My bro in law bought some aftermarket HID bulbs for his Honda Accord few years back, totally screwed up this electrical wiring somehow after 1 year of using the aft. mkt. bulbs. Luckly the mechanic was a good family friend and it only cost him a little over $1K to replace some wiring and components.

I personally don't trust things that are "aftermarket" but then again there are manufacturers that make fine aftermarket products

Just installed these on my E60. A startup video is being reviewed by google's video service. I'll post that once they inspect it for porn and what-not.

Here is the flashing-on-ignition that Stream was referring to


If it is at night and you leave the light selector in automatic, the flashing is over-ridden and the lights just come on with the Xenon's.

If you unlock the car and turn on your parking lights prior to starting the car, the flashing is over-ridden

The flashing only occurrs when the halo's have nothing better to do. Not a bad trade-off in my opinion. Some may agree, others may disagree.
