Thanks kyfdx...let me make sure I get this.

Money factor on X5 = .00322
1 SD paid keeps MF from going to .00337.
2 SD's move the MF from .00322 to .00315...etc. up to
8 SD's move the MF from .00322 to .00273.

Effectively, buying down the lease MF from 7.728% to 6.552%.

You are correct. But remember that the savings you are realizing is paid for by a temporary investment that you get back. You aren't giving bmw any addiational money for the lease as all MSD's are refunded provided no excess wear and tear or mileage. You will get a total 14-20% return if you invest the monthly savings you are realizing each month. The trick to maxing it out is that investing of the monthly savings in something like 5% account in whatever you want. Then you pick up several % on your total return.

Well, I am attracted to the lease concept, especially with the MSD program...but, no way am I touching the X5 until they lower the MF.

I was looking to trade-in my 04 330i and was going to get the 335i for me and an X5 for the wife.

But the 335i has a MF of .0015 which makes it very attractive vs. buying through my CU (5.9% for 60 months).

However, the MF on the X5 at .00322 means higher payments vs. buy...so I guess I wait...

and I wanted to do this for Christmas...

I leasing an X3 that will arrive in Early Jan 2007. Quick question. I leased a Mini S several years ago, sold it to a friend Leased and S4 and now want to get the X3 for the wife. Do I qualify for the waiver of .00015 SD for first time BMW lease customer?

Thanks.

If you are a current bmwfs customer yes. If not then most likely no. I have heard of some who were within a few months of their lease termination qualifying but not longer than that.

You qualify up to 6 months from the date of your last BMW FS contract ending.

I have a question about the qualification. I will never be in this situation but if you are a bmwfs customer with a financed loan, not lease, would you still qualify for the SD waiver?

525 ED invoice; MF; MSD; Acquisition fee

Hi Guys,
BMW is my dream car. I am ready to have my first before the year end. By sheer luck I stumbled upon this forum. After spending most of the last 48 hrs on this 'amazing, imformative and helpful' site, I am now leaning towards ED. A few quick questions:
1. Where can I get the invoice for ED?
2. MF for ED?
3. Is MSD possible for ED?
4. Can the acquisition fee be waived?
4. Do we get to pick the delivery date in Munich (I mean after the time frame for the production date) - the reason being, I cant travel till Mar beginning and if I place the order before year end to get the current leasing program, the car should be ready before Feb end I guess?
5. Does the lease date start from the time one takes delivery of the car in Munich?
Thanks for all the help.
P. S. The link http://www.bariaur.com/e39/EDsavings.html doesnt seem to work. Is there any other site to deal with ED?

I would reply but those questions have all been answered dozens of times...there is a search function if you haven't found it and will get answered immediately...quickly: can't waive acquisition, mf's and invoice are located in ask a dealer forum

ED is an amazing thing to do. I just done one and I only wish I can do this again soon. If you are doing ED try to take advantage of the entire 14 days of free insurance and just travel, travel, travel. If you don't you will regret it after a few days that you are back.

Answers:
1. Under the forum "Ask the Dealer"
2.MF is the same for US or ED. Currently the 525 is 0.00050 with multiple SD (SD x 7) you can bring it down to the 0.00031. All this information is provided in the "Ask the Dealer" forum. You will also find a thread with a spread sheet to calculate your lease with all options, msd, lease term and tax.
3.Yes defiantly and don't let anyone tell you other wise (many dealers have no clue)
4. No
4. ED Date - Yes. You decide when. With such a short notice I would suggest you should put your order as soon as possible. Your best way to get the best deal is sending email to the not calling or visiting the dealer. You already know what you want so just send email to the Internet department to dealers near you what you are looking for and how much over ED invoice including all fees you are willing to pay (+$750 is a good start) plus acq. fee and bank fee. Search the site for different deals/dealer recommendations in your area. If you are in the east cost contact Adrian from Nelly BMW he is a member and great contact. If you are in the SF Bay area PM me and I will send you my CA info.

5. No the date you sign the lease usually 14 days before pickup date. In rare situations it was done 7-10 days before pickup date.

Good Luck,

My example of a ED lease offer using MSDs-work in progress

This is part of an offer e-mail I sent to a ED friendly dealer. It involves in part the use of MSDs (Multiple Security Deposits) as well as savings from ED leases. I can delete this post if it does not belong here. Comments welcome.

ďI would like to lease a 2007 X3 thru the ED program.
......I may at the same time, leave some details out of my offer because I am unaware of them or donít know where they fit in the process......Bottom line, I am hoping to end up with a monthly lease payment near $250.00 for 24 months. Donít laugh yet! Letís see how realistic I am.

ED Invoice Details, etc. to come up with Capitalized Cost:

$32,515 Base price
180 Training fee
NC Steptronic
230 Servotronic
135 Heated steering wheel
455 18Ē wheels (style 205) w/all season tires
730 Xenon headlights
615 Premium audio system
320 Privacy glass
430 Metallic paint-Platinum Bronze Metallic
910 Cold weather package
695 Destination and Handling

$37,215 Total

$ 1,000 Over Invoice Profit for dealer

$38,215 Capitalized Cost

MSRP details to come up with the Residual Value:

$38,000 Base price
205 NC Steptronic
216 250 Servotronic
248 150 Heated steering wheel
2BP 500 18Ē wheels (style 205) w/all season tires
4BN NC STD Dark ash trim (may change to gray Poplar)
522 800 Xenon headlights
677 675 Premium audio system
761 350 Privacy glass
475 Metallic paint-Platinum Bronze Metallic
KC NC Black Leatherette STD
ZCW 1000 Cold weather package
Anthracite headliner if it is available on X3
695 Destination and Handling

$42,895 Total MSRP

Capitalized Cost: $38,215.00
Minus Residual Value: $33,458.10 (42,895/.78)
= $4756.90
Divided by term: 24
= Monthly Depreciation: $198.20

Details of lease terms I was hoping for:

24mo/10K-Residual Value of 78% (thatís 75% @24mo/15K + 3% added if 24m/10k instead)

0.00150 Base Money Factor rate
-.00015 resulting from putting down 1st time leasing Sec. dep.
-.00049 7 MSDís at .00007 each
+.00030 increase because because BMW pays my 2nd lease payment as part of the ED lease process? (Not sure I understand this part as yet and it might not make much sense if you are reading it)

All that = 0.00116 Total Money Factor rate

Note:
-I am not sure I can do both the first time Sec. deposit Money Factor rate reduction plus the 7 MSDís but I think so. Iíve read that BMWFS does not want the final Money Factor rate to be below .00025.

Capitalized Cost + Residual Value
$38,215.00 + $33,458.10 = $71,673.10
X Money Factor: 0.00116 = $83.14 Monthly Interest

Monthly Depreciation + Monthly Interest= Base Payment
$198.20 + $83.14 = $281.34Ē

Yes! Thatís what Iím talkin bout! (Itís not $250.00 but at this point, I think itís the best I can do- I am not a member of any BMWXX org. right now, which would help)

So thatís not all the details but I think the important items that impact on monthy costs. Any comments welcome. Thanks to all Bimmerfest number-crunchers. Time for a beer.

Ok...

You forgot to add acquisition to your capitalized cost. Also there is no reduction in MF for first time deposit...there is a MF rate adder if it's you wish to waive the security deposit. You will have to make 8 deposits total. Also remember to add your local tax rate to your final base payment

very good observations I'm impressed

Also you don't add training to ED cars so take 180 off your cap cost.

One advantage I would like to add. bmwfs pays your 2nd lease payment when doing ED thus you make 23 payments not 24 thus your savings is probably going to be another 15-20 bucks a month from your monthly payment for you are getting the same mileage allotment but not paying for 1 of the 24 payments.....

Guys, very simple.

If you go with the 7MSD's just deduct 49 points off. As an example:
Lets say standard is 0.00100, 7 msd's will bring it down to 0.00051.

All security is fully refundable. I don't think GAP covers MSD's.
I also always recommend to put tax into the payment, because in case the car does get stolen you will loose that money.

If you are locked for a rate you can still use the multiple MSD's at the time of delivery. All the dealer has to do is retype the agreement which takes 5 minutes.

Best of Luck,

MSD's are fully refundable in every case except at lease turn in for excess wear and tear or mileage overage.

Totalled car = MSD's fully refunded

MSD to lower base rate

I have been told again by my dealer that I cannot use MSDs to lower my MF quote of .0005 but posters here have said that is not true. Any suggestions (be nice) of where to send my dealer to get educated?

Just tell him that there is NO advantage or disadvantage to him in allowing this. Tell him you called bmwfs to verify and they said as long as the mf doesn't drop below

.00005 any MF can be lowered using MSD's. If he refuses I would shop for a new dealer and cancel as MSD's is a huge advantage you would be giving up for no damn reason.

As schely said you can do it, I did it on my Z4. Maybe the dealer isn't good at math and doesn't understand the difference between .0005 and .00005 ? The latter IS the absolute minimum. This means if the money factor is .0005 you can only do six MSDs because seven would take it to .00001 below .00005. Six takes it to .00008 which is O.K. In my case I did seven off a buy rate of .0005 because I let them add .0002 so I wound up with .00021 or about 1/2 % APR.

here is the easy way to approach your negotiation.

NEVER call or visit in person. too time consuming and irritating.

you make up an offer of all your terms. configure car, lease terms ect and email it to dealers within a couple hundred mile radius.

sit back and allow them to say yes or no.

1k over invoice is great, 1500 over is OK anything over that and you can go out of state for 1k and get a courtesy delivery or take performance center delivery in spartanburg, sc as you can negotiate with any dealer that way.

825 acquistion fee
buy rate
