timing chain or belt?
Hi
I'm going to buy a 528i this week, it's 97' 83k miles, I'm wondering if this bmw running by timing chain or timing belt? when do I need to change it? is there any major maintaince need to get done at this time>? is there any major problem I need to pay attention? please help.. Thank you |

Timing chain. Not quite sure on maintence. Maybe have to replace the timing chain and tensioner every decade haha. Honestly usually you can hear it when their time to be replaced. I wouldnt worry about it.

At 100k you should be up for a major maintence, if you go to a dealer it will prolly run you $800-$1000. You know all filters, fluid changes, and spark plugs.
