Coincidence or cause? SES Light comes on afer oil change
Tonight I changed the oil in my wife's M3. I used madrussian's DIY and have sucessfully changed the oil on the wagon and the e90 (sold for the M3) without incident.
I took everything apart carefully, put it back together carefully and about 1/2 mile into the 'get the engine warm/check for leaks/test the oil level' spin, the Service Engine Soon light came on. Does anyone have any experience with this happening to them before. Could it just be a coincidence? I'm annoyed and my wife is even more so... I'm going to see if I can get it into a dealer tomorrow morning. Thanks in advance.

Did you get the throttle position sensor back on.....the little electrical plug next to the oil filter. It's really easy to forget. That will trip the SES light.

I took it to an independent shop owned by a friend and it returned a null code and an 89 - General Engine Fault 240 Still waiting from another (and very helpful, I might add) source to get back to me what that means.
