Bluetooth module - Treo 650

Hey Guys,

I'm very excited to hear that BMW has finally come out with a bluetooth adapter. Does anyone have experience with pairing the module with a Treo 650?

Works on my 650

I have it working with mine. Cingular Treo 650. Does all functions, but does not download the contacts, only pulls the first page of the favorites.

Matt,

Thanks for the input. My local dealer here in Medford, OR has a module set aside for me. I'll give it a try.

I installed the adapter today in my 745i for a Treo 650 using T-Mobile. I was able to set the pairing, but the handset continually reboots when in range. Will return if I can't resolve.

Tim,

I had the same problem. Disappeared after I did a firmware upgrade. Would reboot continually while trying to pair up.

Smile Getting a 650 bluetooth to work in a BMW

I have just taken delivery of a 2006 E60 and my treo 650 was givng me fits! Constant locking up and having to pull the battery to restart the 650. It even locked up the BMW bluetooth for 2 hours!

Here's the secret.

The favorite pages (all 5) are pulled as the phone book to the BMW. You cannot have any numbers in there with any extra digits or any apps assigned in any of the buttons on the 5 favorites pages. That gives you only 70 total phone numbers in the BMW phone book but it works flawlessly.

You can still dial from the Palm address portion of the 650 and that will work fine too. Consider the 650 to have 2 phonebooks. The Palm address section is really a full database and the BMW can't handle that. The favorite pages are just phone numbers (provided you do not assign them to anything else) and they work fine.

*One note you will need to re-pair the 650 when you make changes to the favorise pages in order to have the BMW see then new entries.

Make sure you have upgraded your Treo 650 OS to V. 1.20.

TREO OS version will depend on the carrier. Sprint is 1.13 currently.

Re-pairing treo to bmw

I installed the BT adapter today and everything worked great. Since I need to use the favorites more than I usually do when using the treo by itself I added some numbers to the favorites list. I've tried to re-pair the phone with no success. Tried deleting the trusted pair entry in the phone and reset the BT adapter in the car but nothing seems to work. Any details on what steps need to done to make it work would sure be appreciated.

How is the quality?

I am new to the BMW scene. We just bought a 2003 745i that has the CPT9000 kit. We love the car. My wife and I have Treo 650s with Sprint.

How is the quality compared to a normal bluetooth headset?

It looks like they are cheaper at eiskits.com (http://eiskits.com/E65&66bt.html).

I am told the adapter converts the CPT 9000. Does anyone know if there is a kit for the CPT 8000 for my 2002 745?

Delete the BMW from the 650. Delete the 650 fom the BMW. Remove the phone from the BMW and turn off BMW Bluetooth. Turn off the Bluetooth the phone. Reset the phone. You should now be able to start with a fresh setup. Turn on the blue tooth on the phone and confirm it is discoverable. Now turn on the BMW and it shold be there. Good Luck.

I find the quality to be much better. Both the RF and the audio are improved for me. You also transfer to and from the BT easily. At high speeds you do need to speak up but other than that I'm very happy wth it.

As far as how much the BTUM are, http://eiskits.com/E65&66bt.html has them for $269. I think the dealer is over $300. I just bought one on eBay (new) for $194 - waiting to get it. Make sure they are new.

On a related topic:
Where is the best place to store your Treo now. The 7 doesn't really have a good place to store it with a charger. At least where reception would be good. It's too bad there isn't a plug in the console other than the prewired CPT9000 dock.

My initial plan (without the BTUM) was to buy an antenna adapter to connect my treo 650 directly to the car antenna that is made for the CPT9000. I couldn't find a cable that would seem to fit the car connector. Anyone have an idea of what connector type that is - TNC, Mini-UHF, or FME. Truthfully, I don't think it is any of these based on pictures. I found the Treo cable at http://www.alternativewireless.com/c...g-treo600.html

Does anyone know if car antenna actually connects with the CPT9000 phone or just PUSHES against it to make the connection?

Is the motorola CPT9000 the same phone electronically as the V660. The first was used by AT&T and the latter by Cingular. Has anyone tried to interchange the two and use a SIMM chipped phone. I do not believe the electronics in the car cares who the service provider may happen to be.

Just got my BTUM and paired it with a Treo 650

Thanks to you guys my BTUM w/ Treo 650 install worked flawlessly!!!!

I did upgrade my Sprint Treo to fw 1.13. I also also remove all applications from the Favorites Buttons. I even removed the Contacts and Call Log ( I assumed these had to go as well since they are apps).

The phone book took a few minutes to dowload into the iDrive , but it worked .

I will add a second Treo 650 tomorrow.

only 13 entries?

Ok, maybe not fawlessly. Only 13 entries on my favorites list are being transferred to the BTUM . Same with my wife's Treo 650. We both have more than 13. I took out all the applications.

Any idea what's going on? Anyone have the same problem?

Thanks.

I've not had that problem. I have about 30 numbers working. I don't think that re-pairing will change it but you can try. Try deleting all but the first 12 and then add one at a time and make # 13 different in case one of the entries has a strange character. Make sure you have V1.13 if you're Sprint. Also try spreading the 12 over several fav. pages and see if that's any different. Good Luck. (BTW I have an E60 (2006 530i but I believe the BT systems are the same)

Thanks. I will try that when my wife gets back Monday.

It was interesting that it happened on both our 650s - only 13 entries. I am using the Bluetooth Upgrade Module so it isn't the built in one.

I may just go to the dealer and test it on a new one to see if it is my phone or the BTUM.

Not yet. I am waiting to see how nice the BMW one is (http://www.bmwusa.com/bmwexperience/...tm?article=268)

It sounds like I will have to disable my CD Changer to get it to work. It would be nice to switch between the two. I will wait to find out more.

I had not seen this one, thanks. I did not get the CD changer for that reason. Heard any prices yet?
