What wristwatch do you wear?

We finally saw some Hublot watches in person. damn those things are beautiful. It's the only watch my wife wants.

Most BMW owners are still middle class, I dunno what the stigma attached to them is.

The most expensive watch I own was $1200, and it was a gift. The most pricey one I bought for myself was only like $300, is that "befitting" of a bimmer owner??

I highly doubt most BMW owners are middle class. Nothing to disparage the income range, but it may be a stretch for most average wage earners to plunk down 40k+ on a car. Used perhaps, but I still find it unlikely, given the generally higher maintanenace fees. I wish I could get into the watch thing, but I have yet been able to justify dropping 5 grand on a watch.

The watch is a $100 self winding Seiko. The silver&turquoise band/bracelet cost me considerably more when purchased in the '70s

What is the middle class anyways? The average American family of four earns about $50,000 a year.

up until recently all you had to plunk down is a good credit rating and job history, then drive off the lot and not everybody buys new either

To me, the "middle" class is someone whom makes like 40-50k. I don't think a single person making $65k-$70k a year is "upper class", sure they can afford a BMW but I don't think it means there in a social caste apart from the typical 55k a year Joe 6pack. I got a buddy of mine whom does PC repair work, 22 year old kid, and makes like $35k a year. He's already looking at getting a few year old C240, so you're telling me he is either in denial of finances, or the "middle class" can actually afford these cars?

Wait, what? How in the hell can anyone support a family of four, a mortgage, car payments etc on a HOUSEHOLD income of $50k?

Maybe I'm missing something but everyone I know, even the FRESH College grads (they walked last night) have jobs lined up in the low $40's. $50k like that seems WAY to low for a combined income..even though everywhere I read it agrees with you.

As I stated above, I know people making $40k a year looking at getting BMW's or Benzo's, maybe its low cost of living or maybe the cars just really aren't that expensive - after all its not a rover. But then again, $300k will get you a nice 3500sq foot home in a nice area with good schools. Hell the whole "$30k millionaire" show was going to be filmed from the view of a bunch of Dallasites.

Well I wasn't tying the two together, but your absolutely correct. I think "they say" the house shouldn't exceed 250% of your gross income.

So your telling me that a typical person making $60k a year living in a $900/mo apartment can't afford a BMW note?

I roll through apartment complexes all the time in plano that run $700-$1k for a 1br and all I see are Audi's, BMW's, and Benzos.
