E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

My 130i in April's Option Magazine with Pictures

I didn't make the cover but still made the magazine article. The car pulled 0-100 in 5.66 sec. 0-400 Meters 1/4 Mile in 13.88 at 174.9 Kmh/r which wasn't too bad considering it is pretty much a stock engine. I raced the Boxter S which had 29,000 KM on it and was a 2000 model or 2001 model year car. By the end of the quarter mile he was about 3-4 cars behind me The intake arrives next week from Gruppe M and My ECU should get shipped to Germany some time soon for ECU tuning After that I may just get the PSS9 suspension installed. It has almost 3000 KM on the odometer now and the engine is starting to loosen up and feel better. The car loves to run and that inline 6 is just amazing. I did notice though that the in the last 300 RPM'S in the power band from 6700-7000 , the car does not make any power in first and second gear

more pictures.. The Boxster S Pulled the quarter mile in 15.28 @ 151.7 KMH/R, I thought that it was bit slow for a Porsche but it was a local driving a manual.

My times that day were better then the E39 M5 Better then the E46 M3 Convertible and of course lost by a mile to the E55 which in my books is the king of the Roads when it comes to acceleration and comfort for a 4 door sedan

Hi Stylinexpat
That's awesome! So where are you having your ECU tunned? I got my GruppeM intake from Japan. It improved the mid-power of the car.

It must sound nice. Mine arrives pretty soon. They do not have one made for our car as of yet. They have one made for the E90 330. Yours must have been for that car and made to fit with a few adjustments, that is how mine is as well. Oh well.. Did you feel better performance on the highway at high speeds? Can you post some pictures up on this thread? I will post mine when mine gets installed upon arrival this week.

GruppeM intake

Hi stylinexpat
Yep! exactly like that. I did the same thing, given that they don't have anything for the 130i I ordered the one for the 330i. I was expecting the cone type element like the one they used for the M3 but anyway still happy with it. It only took me an hour or less to remove the stock and install the new one. Everything fits perfect except for the air scoop. Anyway I'm in the process of modifying the stock using fibreglass. Have fun. The change did improve the mid-power band.

Hi again, I had a closer look at the photo you attached. It now looks different, The part where the air temperature is placed looks different. Mine was supplied with 2 alumimium spacers. The Air box looks different too. Let me know if you have to tweak the fitting of the air box a lot as mine just fit right into the air box cavity. The air ducts just a plug-in exercise and the one-screw anchorage was spot on. The K&N filter looks slightly different, mine came with a larger cone, I think. I'll have a look again and take photos and post it.

Did a further compare and looking at the shape of the air box it looks like what you got is from the E90 320i and not for the 330i. If this is the case the air filter element will be smaller and you may have problems with performance. Check this ...

Hi guys - first post here.

I have a gruppeM air intake on my 330ci and I really love that sound. However I'm selling my car in the next few days and will get a 130i soon - so, I would like to fit a GruppeM intake on the new car as well.

Is it easy to install and does the package come with clear, detailed instructions?

Thanks!

A friend of mine took care of it for me so I am not sure but he claimed that it was easy to install.

Thanks for your answer.

What about the sound. Is there a huge improvement compared to the stock system?

My H&R anti-roll bars will be going in this week some time. I will try and post some pictures Hopefull these bars will tighten up the loose ends in the front and back. I used to feel that the car is quite quick but now it feels slow to me. I guess the 330i with the Supercharger that I have on it makes this car feel gutless

I was unable to get pictures up as I had to work today so the car was dropped off before I went to work and they dropped it off back at my shop after they finished. I drove it around the block to park and it feels great Of all the Anti-roll bars that I have changed on previous cars I must say that this made the biggest difference. I only drove around the block and the difference can really be felt. I will update after tonights highway experience on my way home. I think the reason they made such a big difference was because of the chassis on this car. The anti-roll bars that were installed on this car were not up to what the Chassis can handle. If you have not yet changed them on your 130i, do so and you won't regret it. The car does not lean now with the PSS9 setup I have now. If they finish the track in Taichung this year, I do plan on tracking the car there to see how it does. Front and rear H&R anti-roll bars costed me 21,600 N.T. installed here in Taiwan. At today's rate that is $647 U.S.D. Import Duties are high in Taiwan so importing these Bars costs a bit more.

Driving home tonight I found the car's ride to have improved dramatically. I am very happy with the upgrade and think that if one has not done this upgrade yet to their car that they should do it. It makes quite a difference to the handling. The bounce that was there seemed to vanish but still exists to a very small point. I did not get the chance to do any high speed runs tonight as my wife was with me in the passengers eat and it was raining tonight due to a Typhoon coming in tonight or tomorrow. Once this Typhoon passes by I can report on the high speed stability difference.

I just replaced my rear tires with 2 new Michelin PS2 Tires 255 35 18 and they fit well without touching. The car drives and handles really nicely now. I am very happy with these tires and founf them much better then the P Zero Rosso's I had on there. They lasted me 16,500 KM before needing replacement while the front PS2'S still have about 70% thread on them It is not as easy to get the rear end to come out now with these new PS2's will try and post some pictures as soon as the server allows us to upload pictures again..
