m6 question

hi everyone, i love the m6's look and style, i have seen the car but didn't get a chance to test drive one. (the dealer dont have one for test drive). so i can only get info from u guys who has driven the car b4, so plz help me out here. i got some questoins for you guys and i will list them out.

1) does the new smgIII has alot of mechanic problems? (i have seen alot of problems concerning the smg). i am wondering if this smgIII will have problems too. i want a car that is reliable and keepable for a long long time.

2) how does the car sound real life, i have only seen videos of it. ppl on the forum seen to not like the sound of the m6 too much. does it even sound like a 500hp super car!!!?

3) does the m6 sit lower then the 650 or 645? since its got the m suspention?

please let me know any extra info that could help me out! i need ur feedbacks!! thx so much

Welcome to the board!

1. Since the transmission is in it's 3rd generation, odds are good that they've worked out most of the bugs. Like any transmission, it's not going to be flawless, but I wouldn't let that stop me. I would say that it's about on-par with an automatic, in terms of reliability.

2. This one I can't comment on. I would imagine a 500-hp V10 would sound pretty badass, but who knows.

3. Probably somewhat lower, but not a lot. With the larger wheels, the wheel-well will be nicely filled anyway.

Also, you're about to get reamed since you didn't speak perfect english. For some reason, folks on this board seem to form lynch mobs and question one's worthiness to drive the Blessed 6-er based on their grasp of the King's English. Try not to take them too seriously.

Just curious, why an M6 instead of a Porsche? Personal preference? Whatever you buy, drive it in good health!

uh, I think they are entirely different cars.

There is a thread on the 6 board if you search for Porsche. Several previous 911 owners state their opinion.

1) As previously stated, it should be pretty good

2) It sounds like crap at low rev levels, like at idle, but once you give it some gas, it sounds heavenly

3)Yes

My dad was looking to get an M6, he had a crappy spot at a dealer so he just got his deposit back, but recently he sold his RS America and is now looking to get the 997 GT3 when ever it comes here since it's so race inspired and is basically a modernized RS America since the new GT3 is basically a stripped down 911 with huge amounts of power and very racy looking.

I'm a 550i owner and I had the pleasure of hearing an M6 today as it was delivered.

It sounds F'n incredible. At idle it has a loud Brrrrrrr sound and seems as if it was idling fast but I'm quite sure it was idling right where it needed to be. When they blipped the throttle it almost sound like an F1 car.

NO question this will be my next car if still available in 18 months.

No sunroof, carbon instead. I believe the front fenders are of a composite material as well.
