Anyone over 50 still driving an M3?

I might be turning 50 soon (denial is a river in Egypt), and I love how the outgoing E46 M3 looks. What a gorgeous beast! I also like the taut suspension, precise handling, braking power, the venerable - and final - sweet revving S54 engine. I want one.

Is there anyone on the boards that is 50 & up, and had an M3 as a daily driver?

Just curious . . . .

I'm on the downhill slide into 50; but still have a few years. Not sure if my M3 will be in the garage when I hit 50, but if it isn't it'll only be because I replace it with something more fun to drive.

I'm in my 40's...been driving M3's everyday for over a decade and I don't see myself settling into a 4-door sedan ever (E39 and E60 M5's notwithstanding).

Do not worry about your age and get one today. Just don't drive it like an old man, drive it like you stole it.

Just a couple of more years 'til I hit 60 and I'll be driving it then.

I'll be the one in the fast lane at 45 mph with my left turn signal on for the last half hour.

Ill be 50 in 23 days, I bought a 2006 M3 (10/2005 wanted one of the last E46, 3rd M3) in hopes of keeping til I die or the value increases and Im too old to enjoy it. I love the looks, its truly a classic, but Im also starting to like the E92 coupe, the increase in HP for this coupe gets my attention plus the styling is not bad. I have an 04 325cia as a daily driver, I plan on trading it to either a 328 or 335 once Ive seen it, dont know I will buy the 1st year, just depends but I do have a deposit on one just in case I get the bug. The 04 325 is a better daily driver, IMO M3 is not really a daily driver at my age, if I was younger I would probably would think different, wanting the M3 characteristics all the time.

Just do what makes you feel good, no one pays your bills for you, make yourself happy, we are on the downside of life, we have more life than we have left, SO ENJOY it NOW

Sounds like you're pre-qualified.

as I posted to your querie on another forum I also picked up my latest M3 for my 50th b-day.
as good an excuse as any I can think of, though "it's Thursday" would also suffice for an excuse.

I'll be 59 this year. I got my E46 M3 in 2002 and I had an E30 for 10 years. I've also been to M-School and Advanced M-School.

Your age is ABSOLUTELY NOT...

...an issue. I am 53 and came within an eyelash of buying a new Sti two years ago (dealer would not negotiate and I do NOT pay sticker) and would have bought a used E46 M3 if anyone within 300 miles had had a good used one for sale for high thirties or better. Will definitely trade the 330i zhp I got instead for a used one in a year or so...when I'm 54 or 55.

Nice thing about M3's is they are relatively subtle in looks and many seasoned citizens prefer that. On the other hand, they stand out like a beacon to people who know cars.

My hope it increases is if it stays pristine with very low mileage in 15-20+ years, maybe, maybe not. Ive seen some of the M coupes go high even now and some E30 M3's @ $30k+, just hoping, doesnt hurt to hope, plus I really just want an E46 (pristine) for the rest of my life, UNLESS the E92 M3 just really makes me want to trade, I want a E93 328/335 but not so much the E92 M3.

Too Old for ????

I can't believe that someone out there thinks that if you drive an M3 and you are over 50 that there is something unique about that. I am almost 60 and I drive my M3 CiC and my Harley Fat Boy and my Harley Road King whenever I feel the urge - which is any day that there is no white stuff on the ground! Whatever happened to "if it feels good, do it" philosophy? BTW, the M3 is Imola Red. Is color an issue also? I apologize to all of you being new to this forum, but the query was "mildly" upsetting.

I'm 57 and I'm on my 3rd M3. I went from a 2002 M3 to a 2003 M3 to a 2004 M5 (too big for me) back to a 2004 M3. I tracked the car last year 13 times. I'm retired and I love to play every day...Work is definitely overrated.

I'm #1 at my dealer for the new E90 M3, whenever it comes out. I passed once again on the new E60 M5...beautiful and powerful car but again too big for my needs.

This is just like the muscle car days. They were not typicalloy driven by teens, they couldn't afford them.

I would say MOST M3s are driven by those around or older than 50. Next group is the youngish crowd, many of whom have cars supplied by daddy and mommy. Last is the group of the 20 - 45 group that managed to to be able to own one.

all I will say was under 50 when I bought mine. But going on about 16.

no way

In fact, I'd say it may be just the opposite. Most M3 drivers I've seen are 20-45.
