I'm amazed that no one else has responded to this video.

I know for me it changed my opinion of the one series. I was planning on waiting, but if a 3 or 5 door R32 makes it's way over here with DSG, the one series dream is gone.

Not so much for performance reasons, but for practicality reasons. I thought those rear seat would be much more useable in the one series.

Oh well.

The one series is a larger car, his arguements about it not having nearly enough space are rubbish if you actually sit in the two and compare!

I heard that Top Gear likes bagging BMW. Is it fair to compare an all-wheel-drive to a rear wheel drive? Well everyone knows AWD has a better grip.

I don't mind a comparo between an AWD & RWD because that is how the cars are and I believe whichever brand has made the right choice should be rightly glorified. However I am against making comments that just seem to be fuelled by hatred rather than fact.

It's mainy Jeremy Clarkson (the tall dude) who hates Bimmers. It's pretty impressive that he actually had some positive things to say about the 130. He's pretty smart behind the wheel, but he usually bags on just about every Bimmer they test.

Hadn't seen that one yet. I like Top Gear and have watched many clips from that show. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, cars are expensive in the UK. But even considering that, BMW's are WAY WAY overpriced compared to other cars in the same market. They still sell tons and tons of 3 series, so I guess they'll keep doing what they're doing as long as they can.

Then they really screwed up the pricing on the 1 series. Multiple reviews pointed out that a 130i with M-package is almost as expensive as a 330i. That is exactly what you do when you DON'T want to sell your premium small car. I don't know if they were too concerned about keeping the 3-series turf, but that kind of pricing will be a sure way to fail over here in the US.

Don't blame it all on Clarkson.. the .:R32 is one bad-ass machine. I had the original (2004 model in the USA) and the new Mk5-based model is even hotter. Don't mess with one, you will likely get schooled.

Darn video wouldn't load for me! Even though that guy bagged on the bimmer, cars are a personal choice not to be made by watching a tv show. Go out and test drive one and see if you like it compared to another.

Agreed- I almost bought one, but is still doesn't change the fact that Clarkson can't admit that BMW has a fleet of some very fine autos to choose from.

Thanx blue guy, pretty fair comparison, I thought. The 130iM is way overpriced and doesn't have as much room as the golf. Hopefully bmw watches these shows as well!!

J.C has slated their design currently, but even he has admitted they are nice to drive!

Top gear does tend to bad on BMW's, see the M5 review (first part).

He complains about having to set features prior to starting the car and says you have to do it, you don't.

He complains about programming the 'home' headlights feature, but fails to mention you only have to do it once.

He is listenging to a song and tries to increase volume, but pushes the arrow not the plus button on the steering wheel. This changes radio channels or tracks, not the volume. He then bags having to fix the problem that he made himself, he pushed wrong button. Never once saying he pushed the wrong button.

He then complains 'a lot' about SAT NAV. He fails to mention that he programmed it and turned it on.

Are we talking about the same Jeremy Clarkson who owns an M5 and gave his vote to the M6 in the M6/911/AM comparison test? Clarkson doesn't have anything against BMW, but some of you here do seem to have had humor bypasses. The first half of the M5 review was vintage clarkson - he does it for the comedy value. The second half was enough to make him get one for himself!

To me, most people are looking a a certain "flavor" of car, with RWD, AWD, or FWD being one of the major elements.

Clarkson said the 130 was more fun, IMO, due to RWD. I'm basically looking for more practical Miata or a RWD Focus ST with more kick and a bit tighter. I'm hoping the 1-series is it.
