For those with Blackberry Storms.....

Is there a way to turn off the shutter sound on the phone when taking pictures?

Also, my battery seems to die in about 7-8 hours, aren't the batteries supposed to last longer? I figure, maybe my battery dies faster because its constantly searching for a signal (since I don't really get reception at work)?

That's exactly why your battery drains so quickly.

I used to make that same mistake. What you could do if you dont want to turn the power completely off is
-go to manage connections
-then go to turn all connections off

This will leave the power on but will not search for a signal. Your battery life will be much longer.

And about the shutter sound. I have no idea. I just tried messing with it and didnt see an option for it. Maybe if you have your phone on vib or silent it wont sound?

If you are in a area where coverage is weak, it's better to turn the phone off or forward your calls to your office phone. Not sure if it's allowed in your office to take personal calls. Sometime, if you're in the area where EV signal is weak, that could drain the battery too if the phone keep searching for EV and 1X signals.

fyi, regarding silencing the shutter sounds.. I believe there are 3rd party apps which do the trick.
