Mein Auto: Z4 M Coupe 6LL93033
Z4 Stuff

The 2.5 Z4 manual (5 spd) has a 3.46 diff. Imaginary that.
The 2.5 Z4 auto has a 3.64.
The 3.0 Z4 manual (6 spd) has a 3.07. Why?
If you look at the other 6 spd cars it sort of matches.
(Were not in Germany though.)
E39 M5 = 3.15
E36 M3 = 3.23
E31 (8) = 2.93
E46 M3 = 3.62 What?
The 3.0 Z4 auto has a 3.46. Interesting, (just like the Z3 auto).
Some good mods coming up here. Not into roadsters, but I really like the design and thought that went into this car. Can't see making my coupe into a winter car, but it could happen. Maybe the Z4 with a hardtop as the winter car. Sort of backwards, but that could happen too.

More on ratios

The Z3 3.0i has a final drive ratio of 3.07 (at least in Europe) whilst the auto version has a ratio of 3.15. If you have shorter ratios it will might be because the US Z3 3.0i has a speed limiter.

(The M roadster and the 2.8 have final drive ratios of 3.15)

European gear ratios for the 3.0i Z3 and Z4 are:
Z4 Z3
1st 4.35 4.21
2nd 2.50 2.49
3rd 1.67 1.66
4th 1.24 1.24
5th 1.00 1.00
6th 0.85
Rev 3.93 3.85
Final 3.07 3.07

So rather than spreading the ratios (which might interfere with the 'sacred' 0-60 times, they stay roughly the same and 6th gear is merely an overdrive.
