Anybody here do Autocross?
I just got my first BMW, a 2002 530i (manual, non-sport) and I would like to go auto-x in it. Anybody here in the NY metro area that also does autocross? I was thinking of attending one Sunday the 30th, and also the BMW one in May. I have done autocross before in my previous car, a 200SX SE-R, but this car drives much differently and I would like some pointers on how to best drive it for auto-x.

I'm planning to AutoX my car this season.
What do you need tips on exactly? Is this your first rear wheel drive car? If so, brake in a straight line before the turn-in point, turn-in, then add power once you hit the apex. You should be at full throttle by the end of the turn. Slow in, fast out. You'll notice that the car can tuck in (corner more sharply) if you ADD power. That's probably the biggest difference coming from a front wheel drive car. Do everything smoothly, especially when you add power, or else you might oversteer/spin.

This is my first RWD, plus it's a lot different than what I had before. It's heavier, but it's supposed to be built for better handling. Although I'm starting to think that maybe my car won't be as good for autocross since I have such a nice smooth ride, my suspension may be too bouncy (I don't have the sport package)
