What are you complaining about?
A small gas tank has its advantages: Filling up is almost a bargain...

they should just bring the turbo diesel...and end the multiple engine options...it will perform way better anyways.

That engine would do well with the new X5. I also wonder whether there will be a sport package for the 3.0i and 4.8i. I really can't wait to see more info on the new X5.

But mind: in E70 X5 FlexRay will be used for operating / controlling air suspension only. Fully operating FR will be used in BMW vehicles coming in year 2008 (e.g. new 7 - serries).
Any pics of the facelifted E60 Tine?

There are some - but nothing really revealing (just slightly different air intake seen).

E60 will get very mild styling facelift (slightly different bumpers, air intake, area around kidney grille, rocker panel, minor tweaks in the cabin). More improvement will done be under the skin (engines, transmissions, suspension, brakes, xDrive + DSC, etc).

And yes: it will get new CELIS LED tech front & back (shape of the clusters is staying the same!!!). I don't now about the details, but was told some NEW lighting tech will be introduced - whatever that means.

The car is still not in FEP phase so not all FL exterior styling is used. FL E60 coming in spring 2007.

Hmm, that could be the automatic High-Beam Assist. You might have noticed a little sensor in the rear-view mirror of the E60 and E65/66 pointing towards the windshield. This feature is already available in Germany (was inroduced along with Night-Vision) and turns on the High-Beam automatically (and shuts it off if a car from the opposite direction approaches). BTW, Jeep is offering the same feature in their Grand Cherokee. Not bad, IMO.

Nothing really new here. GM had the auto high beams sentinnel years ago. Personally, I had rather control high beams manually. I will be at our BMW store next week and plan to ask a bunch of questions. Thanks for the thought provokers. Tough decission on what to replace what with.

I also noticed that the backup light lense is a stripe in the middlie of the red lense. Very similar to the '06 Z4. Is this becoming a South Carolina trademark?

Looking at the prototype, a little worry that the style of the new X5 may be a bit boring.

E70 X5 will follow the E90 3-series formula: almost identical shape with a completely new skin. This is called evolutionary design.

Yes - shape will be very familiar, since it is almost identical to current X5. Styling is contemporary BMW: flame surfacing. FS is not clearly seen on spy pics, but it is there - very prominent.

Front will be very aggressive - very BMWish: "Move out of my way, or I'll gonna eat you".

Only the back is a bit bland - especially due to almost identical shape of rear light clusters - but the graphics is more dynamic. And the CELIS LED stripes make the car look lower & wider.

Interior follows the 3er / 5er theme.

The whole appearence will be very fresh, modern & dynamic, with a touch of aggressivenss - but evolutionary. As I said: compare E46 3er to E90 3er.

There is one perfect word describing E70 X5: beefy. Very muscular, powerfull, aggresive, sporty. Narrower greenhouse contributes to even more sporty look.

IMO E70 X5 will be really well received, and it will be an instant hit - again. Despit all the competition.

If you want a revolutionary and more exciting design you shold wait for X6 Sport Activity Coupe or V5 Luxury Sports Cruiser (aka RFK).

Gosh, I don't know. To me it just looks like a big 4 door hatch back sedan with big tires. Do you have any spy pics of either the X6 or V5. Guess I am sheltered, but I have not heard of either one of these.
vz

edit: Well, perhaps its just the angle of the photo. It really does not look like a hatch back.

edit 2: Just saw LeMans X5 spy shots....take it all back. Wow, impressive.

First: the names are not yet confirmed, but are the most serious proposals.

X6 Sport Activity Coupe (internal name: X-sport)

X6 will be a crossover between a SAV and a sports coupe.
Imagine a coupe shaped vehicle with a huge wheels, high sitting position, AWD, quite big ground clearance, and with a performance of a sports car.
Remeber the X-Coupe cancept by BMW? Something like that but bigger. It will open a completely new car segment.
X6 will be for BMW what CLS is for MB: a 4-door coupe. While CLS is a sedan-looking coupe, X6 will be a SAV looking coupe.

V5 Space Functional Concept (internal name: Luxury Sports Cruiser)

V5 will be a crossover between a big wagon and a big hatch, with all the luxury & comfort of a big sedans. Mind MB R-class, but V5 will be much more sportier & dynamic, with more aggressive & exciting shape & styling. And very important: V5 will not look like a VAN but more like an enlarged wagon / hatch.

While X6 will be an all purpose coupe - a sporty dynamic lifestyle car with AWD and higher sitting position than normal coupe, V5 will be a dynamic luxury comfort vehicle with a touch of sportiness - an anti-sedan vehicle.

Neither X6 nor V5 purpose will be a people carrier or utes - the space will not be the main issue. Expect a great comfort for 4 persons & their lagguage, nothing more. But those 4 persons will be treated like kings / queens.

These new vehicles will come in 2008 / 2009. X6 will be aimed at US market - it will be produced in Spartanburg, South Carolina plant, while V5 will be aimed at Europe - it will be build in Germany (most possibly in Dingolfing plant, together with 5er, 6er & 7er).

X6 will be based on new X5 platform, while V5 will be based on a new 5er platform.

The vehicles are still tested in bed mules: X5, 5er Touring, 7er. Expect first of actual X6 & V5 spy pics later this year or early next year.

I was told X6 design was described by the designers as "off the wall". But - these two vehicles (X6 & V5) will again put BMW in the front lines of automotive press.

Wow...filling up an M5 is currently cheaper - I pay less than $50 due to its small tank. But as I said, that is the CURRENT price...

Yep, but bet you have to do it twice or three times a week
Well, I am out the door almost as I type to see a M5 - maybe we will ride down and back to/from the filling station.

Oh yes, well said. The guy who runs the gas-station claims to be my best friend...
How can you tell you're M5-addicted? You see him more often than your wife...
