What is the ground wire going to on the engine hoist hook up on top of the engine

It's for the fuel injectors which are right under that center engine cover.

I've never unsheathed this particular wire but if it's like all the other GND wires then 12-16gauge multi-strand copper wire would be what you are looking for.

You should be able to find a good substitue at somewhere like Autozone.

Yea, for ground wires, stranded is always better than solid core
