E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993.

ABS Relay Location

I need help finding the ABS main relay. Bentley's says it's under the drivers kick panel. I removed the panel and could not find it; it's not in plain sight. I did see a large computer type control box there. Is that it? Do I have to remove that to get to the relay? This is a good example of where even Bentley's can generalize...and it took me a good 15 minutes of reading to even get, "located under driver's side kick panel." I also did a search here on the site, but all I came up with was more of the same. Thanks.

The metal box is your ABS control unit. The relay is directly on top of the ABS control unit's housing, it's an aluminium cased relay. I had to use a flashlight to see mine.

Thanks

Thanks. Yeah...that's the aluminum looking case that sits on the aboveleft side of the steering post, right? I ordered mine from BAV and it's just a black plastic relay that looks similiar to a fuel pump relay or a main relay. Thanks for the help Lord, I'll get back under there tomorrow.

Yup that's the one. I just soldered in a new wire in mine (ala swiss, but I did that months ago ) cheap and easy fix.

yeah...I thought about that...but I've never been very good with solder. I figured I'd try replacing the realy, I already did the sensor pads when I did a brake job...it's just a gamble to change the relay, but if it works, I can remove the black tape
