Clear Coat - Paint - Question

I got my new 325i a month ago and I declined the dealer's offer ($600) to provide so called clear coat protection. They said that it would ensure for 5 years that my black sapphire color car does not loose the color and my interiors are en-balmed with water proof wax.
My question is - was this a wise decision to refuse it??? Does clear coat help in dark colored car. Any suggestions. I just want to make sure the car looks fine..

ALL BMW and most cars now have ClearCoat paint from the factory. to me, it's a total BS, the dealer just want to get more cash from you. Get a Zaino Z2- Pro, it takes a few hrs at most to put on and lasts about 6 months. and cost only $20 bucks or less. and same thing for leather, get Z9, and Z10 from Zaino too.
