Some pre-sales questions

Purchase Guidance Needed

Iím 43 years old, never been married, I thought I may have commitment issues, but deciding on my first BMW has shown me that my commitment issues are wide reaching.

Some questions:

Is the upcoming 328i only going to be available in a coup or will it also be available in a sedan? How much power gain are we talking about?

If it is available in a Sedan (328i), why the change in power specs considering the engine was just updated in 2006?

Is the 330i Sedan being replaced with the 2007 335i or will the 335i only be available as a coup?

Will there be substantial saving on the 2006 330iís once the 335i start shipping? Historically how much?

I was looking for a 325i with prem pkg, sports pkg, heated seats, sat radio, auto, nav, met paint but have noticed packages with the nav are impossible to find on lots. Even the premium package is hard to find. Iím beginning to wonder whether putting all these upgrades in a 325i make sense from a resale value, having the most expensive 325i on the block may not fair well if most folks are looking at bang for the buck, if that makes sense.
My dealer stated that when you start to fully load a 325i you end up in 330i territory price wise. Iíve done the math and the 330i is out of my price range.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Options depreciate faster than the base price of the car. Your dealer is correct that it make no sense to buy a fully loaded 325i when a 330i may be a better value. This is specially true when leasing, your 330i payment may be lower than on a loaded 325i.

Have you tried configuring both cars on the website? You can play with options and figure out what configuration is in your sweet spot.

I expect the 328 sedan (E90) Start of Production to be Sept 1. Expect dealer availibility in late Oct. Pricing about $.8 - 2k above current 325. 230 hp, just like the 328 E92.

You are indeed loading up. I would discuss two options with my CA (salesperson):

1) find a 2006 325 the way you want it from current dealer stocks. Negotiate a deal around $500-750 over invoice. Make sure you are working from invoice pricing on the options as well.

2) wait a bit, and negotiate a deal on the 2007 328, via Euro Delivery if at all possible. This way you can order the car exactly as you want it, save 3k on the ED, and save more on dealer markup because you should be able to negotiate a deal closer to invoice because the car via ED is not coming out of dealer allotment. Tickets to Munich are cheap in late Oct/Nov., and driving your new car on the autobahn, if only for a few days, is priceless.
