I am proud to announce the launch of a new forum
here at The 'Fest. No, I didn't just add yet another forum... I deleted one that was not really beingused, and replaced it with one that is unique, and has potential value to many 'Festers... I also want to call your attention to autobahntravel, new business venture about to go live - brought to you by one of my very best enthusiast buddies, Roupen Puzantian. Roup (a.k.a. "roup1") has been hanging around the bimmer boards as long as anyone. When I met him he was working for Navtech, and later he was part of the Autobytel team in Irvine. Check out his latest gig: http://www.autobahntravel.com/index3.html Please note: this is still the beta version.. I know one thing; my next new BMW acquisition will definitely be a European Delivery... Enjoy the new board! Best regards, --Jon |

John,
Great idea on the new thread! I've been lurking here for a bit now, and am taking ED in January. I would have used Cutter, except that I am from the DC Metro area. That whole trans-continental shipping thing would be a This whole site had provided a wealth of information for me. Thanks everyone! Quick question: I will have my 330i in Europe for one month, and I'd like to put on a factory alarm (especially since I'll be in Italy some of the time). Does anyone have any suggestions about the best way to do this? Is it cheaper to purchase in Germany, or should I buy one from Manny in the U.S. and take it with me?

I picked up the US version alarm at the BMW dealer in Munich for $165 which is less than you'll see here. I didn't have it installed so I can't say about labor charges, though they replaced my stock SP steering wheel for a M wheel for $22 (labor charge). I doubt you'll get any dealer in the US to do much of anything for $22.
Beauport, Thanks for the info. Is the BMW dealer the same people as the delivery center or did you use some other dealer in Munich? Did you schedule for installation ahead of time? Thanks! |

Questions...
Beauport-
Wow. I'd really like to purchase the OEM alarm. But, more importantly I'd like to get the M-wheel installed at the factory. I'll be doing ED in mid-December. How were you able to pull this off. Would you mind sharing your secrets? If I need to make some calls, I wouldn't mind getting started now. Thank you. Jeff |

[/B][/QUOTE] No, the ED center is different from where I purchased the M wheel and alarm which is the Niederlassung Munchen, phone # 089/3535-1100(service) BTW, the ED center will sell and install wheel locks if you want them, $22 installed. Just tell them you want them when you first arrive at the ED. Quote:

Northern VA, ED, and a German Sales rep. Hmmmm, did you use Passport BMW like me? I think I'll call my rep. and ask him about making an appointment for the alarm. Thanks for the info.
