Why would ED be only 3k cheaper than MSRP? ED price should be about 4-5k less than MSRP, including dealer profit.

I was extrapolating from the 2006 pricing of the 330i. The 2006 330i had an MSRP of $36,600 for U.S. delivery, and $34,040 for ED, or a difference of $2,560. I figured, since the raw numbers are a bit higher for the 335i, it would be a little bit more than the $2,560 difference, if the percentage discount remained the same.

To be more precise, the ED discount (for the 2006 330i) was 7% (6.99% actually). Applying the 7% ED discount to the $40,600 MSRP of the 2007 335i yields an ED discount of $2,839.78, all else being equal. So, I was just rounding up to $3,000 to keep it simple.

I have 1 dealer telling me he'd give me an ED price of 7% less than the U.S. MSRP and another $1250 over the ED Invoice... I'd assume that the 1250 over invoice should still end up being cheaper, but by how much do you guys think?

Where do you get 34k for the 2006 ED 330i? It was 30,970 - or at least when I did it.

I have no idea where you're getting 7%. I see a 15.5% discount, not including the cost of options.

Because he is talking about MSRP, you are talking about invoice.

My general rule of thumb is $3000 off MSRP for invoice and another $3000 off for ED. $40,600 less $6000=$34,600 add to that delivery, options, title, tax, tags, $1000 dealer markup = your price.

ED MSRP is a silly number never actually used by buyers...so why bother mentioning it?

7% less than the US MSRP = $37760
1250 over ED Invoice = $35610

so the ED deal you got is a savings of $4990 over US MSRP (40600).

Is it possible to add some options at a later time? Like for example the rear sunshade - i would like them when I have kids - so can I order them in a couple o years for the same price?

It just occurred to me that I have been posting this stuff in the online BMW forums for all models continuously since 1999 - interestingly enough - beginning with the model year 2000 E46 Coupe launch... Wow. It's no wonder why my back is always hurting...
