Windshield woes, anyone have a chip repaired on BMW glass?

After ~8000 miles my windshield is pretty heavily pitted,
has a couple of very small, very light scratches, and a nice
chip in it.

I called around this weekend as I'm considering having the
chip repaired by one of the local crack/chip repair guys
and then having the glass polished to remove the scratches.

Although I'm figuring that the worse that could happen is
needing a new windshield, I'm still concerned about chip
repair and polishing (the crappy) BMW glass.

Anyone have any experiences/advice they'd care to share?

Aside from that, anyone else experiencing pitting yet?

I had mine repaired at the local car wash this past spring.
It was a pit about the size of a large pin head.
It took the guy 10 minutes and it looks GREAT !

Well worth the $30.
