So based off all the articles my options for Ipod in my 04 545 are the Aux input or a interface module for $$$$$ which can be controlled through factory radio. Also the Iphone would only work with the module interface depending on what i got. If I was lucky, I may have Bluetooth and Iphone capability already depending on my build date. Just checking to make sure I have my info correct.

I bought an integrated aftermarket 'Y' cable and can control an iPod through the radio and steering wheel controls. The problems I now have is that there are static and pops that don't happen when I just use the audio patch cable.

It really shouldn't be this difficult.

Hello eRandall38. A few months have passed since your post. But I am in same boat...'10 528i, xdrive, M-sport package, no NAV, no Premium, build=10/09. Were you able to get answers to your questions? Or, did you find a solution?

found this posting from others on the other side of the big pond ( http://f20.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=699811). they are using in 1-series but expect it is same issue we face. Note the discussion on page 3 regarding the enhanced BT option vs. standard BT. you may want to check your build sheet to see what options you have.

also called local dealer who reports that i need "infamous y-cable". Price = $75+tax. haven't given up the fight yet. may gamble on amazon or ebay.

I am connecting my IPAD to AUX input via bluetooth with this device:
Rechargeable Bluetooth V2.0 Music Receiver for iPhone / iPad / Cell Phone / PC - White

My kids love it. They play music from back seats.
It also works with Android devices.
