An autotragic E36 with the original cooling system at 3 times the recommended cooling system replacement mileage, isn't a bragging right. Being lucky so far doesn't make you 'good' at Russian Roulette.

This is true. Clean, well maintained, and tastefully modded cars (i.e. Karl's car) earns you a bragging right.

seriously i would not mod it. It looks really good all stock i would keep it that way because your car looks amazing already.

Tried out a new wireless flash remote today....

I feel like it's gonna take SOME SERIOUS TIME before I get decent results. Practice, practice, practice is what I've been told... I hate posting stuff that I'm not thrilled about, but what do you guys think?

I agree, she looks fine the way she is. She going stay as is with maybe the exception of adding armrest console.

Trust me, if your E36 had 233k miles on the original shocks/struts and bushings, it was performing at about 25% of what an E36 should be. You might not have known the difference at the time, but stepping into an E36 with fresh suspension/bushings would've opened your eyes quite a bit.

Definitely a good first attempt. You'll have to continue working on properly diffusing the light from the flash(es), etc.

Yeah, since it's a convertible, there's no need to make it look like a racecar, etc.

why do some of you make your BMW's look like a extra out of the fast and furiouse films and make them look like rice cracker cars also all with ya BLING BLING chrome wheels I've seen on some U.S. BMW's its all a personal choice what goes on the cars plus they are actully called a Mtech sport in the UK somtimes

It's not an M car, so why have the badges? It's like acura people who put type r on their cars when they aren't. And I promise no one here likes Chrome on the E36.

Maybe your models are called different in the states we used to have a E30 model in the UK call a 325i Mtech that had m badges on it NOT M3 badges just the M badge like mine and thats how it came from the dealers, the only M badges I put on were the ones on the back and front the rest are factory fitted ie: door strips the steering wheel and centre concell ones so blame BMW.
any way I 'll ask you a question why do you call one of your Compact models a Californian cos it has a Webasto Sunroof in it whats that got to do with California, Webasto are actully a German company hear we would say what it is a Webasto sun roof not a Californian roof

BMW rarely offers "M-tech" cars stateside. Historically they've done their best to separate a "regular" BMW from an M car. Obviously, its a murky line. They allowed them to sell an "M540i" and a 540i M-Sport (I think) for the E34 generation of 5-series. They called the E36 M3 a full M car, when in reality it had a much less powerful motor and slightly softer suspension than its "real" M3 counterpart across the pond.

In the early 2000's they gave us your 330i M-Sport but they made us call it a ZHP or "Performance Package" despite peppering the car with little M logos.

Recently they've started marketing M-sport models over here, you could get an M-sport E90, and they just rolled out the M-sport package for the F30 3-series.

If your car is really an M-sport model, I still think it would look better if you removed the grill badge and just left what came on it from the factory, it looks cluttered, IMO. However, its your car, you own it and drive it, so if extra M badges make your skirt fly up, more power to you. The reason a lot of people here make a fuss over it is they feel it is false advertising to put M badges all over a "normal" 318i or 325i. Personally, it doesn't bother me that much, like I said, you own the car, if it makes you happy do it. I'd rather have an M3 with a 318i badge on the back though.

You're making some sweeping generalizations about American culture though, there are plenty of people out there who throw huge chrome rims on all kinds of undeserving cars, not just the E36. There are people like that in the US and all across Europe and the rest of the world. It's just a matter of (poor) personal taste. You'll find that while most of us on this forum are American, we have a few active members from the mainland as well, and most of us tend to fall into the "tasteful performance and aesthetic modifications" category, with a slightly smaller subsect "low and slow" guys. Most people who are into the chrome thing don't last long on here.

I'm also not sure what "California" model you're talking about. Do you mean the cars with full pillars but a retractable canvas roof? Its possible they were marketed as "California roofs" when they were offered new, they are exceedingly rare, I've only seen those roofs in pictures on E30s.

The only Cali topped E36s in the US were the Ti/Compacts, and yes, they are very rare. Don't know why they're called Cali top, though. Could just be a general term which may not have originated with BMWs.

I noticed that the mat had been moved before the pic was taken sorry is that somthing else I've done wrong apart from having M badges on my car
