Horn, alarm, computer problems

I have a Stellar alarm (mostly) installed on my '94 325i. I say "mostly" because I never could find the siren port under the hood, but everything else worked. Until now.

My horn started going off continuously for no obvious reason today for quite a while. I suspected the alarm, so I disconnected it behind the dash, and it stopped.

Now I realize that perhaps the reason I could never find the siren port is because it is connected to the horn -- the Stellar instructions refer vaguely to disconnecting the horn from the computer, but I cannot find how to do this from the Bentley manual. Does anyone know how?

I forgot to add: this alarm has worked successfully for about a year, and I have never had this problem.

I just tried to reconnect the alarm unit behind the dash, and the horn instantly started blaring.

maybe your alarm unit is going bad or a short somewhere causing the horn to go off like that

I found the siren port, disconnected it from the horn, and connected it to the alarm siren. The siren started going off immediately, just like the horn. Seems like the alarm unit is going bad, like you said.

BTW: Several write-ups for both factory and Stellar alarms made the siren install look so easy -- just a matter of finding the open plug behind the passenger headlight. My siren plug was connected to a horn underneath a piece of metal (which I thought was connected to the fog light). In fact I had to remove the metal before I was even sure what it was, because it was impossible to see how it was attached and what color the wires were.
