Exclamation 318i fuel filter?

Ok I have had a problem that involves my fuel system so I need to check the fuel filter. I know that it is in the line somewhere unfortunately I have yet to be able to find it...maybe I'm just not looking close enough cus I haven't gotten full body under the car yet since the damn thing is sitting on a slope. But any pointers or directions would be great thanx.

It is hidden by a plastic shield when you look from underneath.
If you had X-ray vision and looked from the top, while driving, at the driver's side floor you would see the filter.

You must get the car up on jack stands or on a lift to get the filter out. I think this model has a large canister type.
One question, have you pulled the injector hose off past the filter to see if fuel is coming out? Might save you the frustration of replacing a filter that is ok.
The fuel system uses 3 things: fuel pump for pressure and volume, filter to keep the fuel clean and the regulator to keep the back pressure up. I think it is around 43-46 psi.
Hope this helps...
