Another Early Christmas Gift to Myself
Merry Christmas to me!
![]() I just ordered the Sony Wega KV-40XBR800. 40" of viewing pleasure! Its the biggest direct view one Sony makes. Crutchfield is running a deal where they include the stand ($500 value), Free Shipping, Free In-Home Delivery and no tax for those outside of Virginia. The total price was $3k. I figured I would have spent at least $3,800-$4,000 if I bought it at a local store. The tax and shipping savings alone was worth it. They are out of stock until November 26th, but I should have it the second week of December. I'll take some actual pics of the TV once I get it. After this purchase, I should calm down until at least spring. I figure with all of the time I spend watching football on Sunday and DVD's, it was worth it. Anyone here have this? I know a bunch of you have the 36" one and love it. I'm wondering how the picture will look with a progressive scan DVD player. It pays to be single sometimes. Here's a picture of it.

Wah, I still use my old 27" V20 with a semi-busted s-video jack I gotta jiggle to get color.

What do those weigh... 300, 350lbs???
Why not just spend an extra $500-$600 and buy a 42" Panasonic plasma! Actually, get the new Sony HS10 16:9 projector for $2500 and get a 100" screen! |

I also checked into projection screens. The best one I could find was by Toshiba. The screen was incredible but again it was 16:9 and if you view programs too long in 4:3 you can actually burn the black image into the screen. I guess one day when HDTV becomes mainstream, I will pick up a widescreen plasma TV. This will keep me happy until then. ![]() Oh yeah, it weighs about 350 lbs!! |

Yep, we have one of the first XBR Wega models here, the 36" model. Bought it 3 years ago. I still remember how futuristic it was back then. Astounding picture quality.
The only thing outdated on it now is only ONE component video input. With a PS2, DVD/MP3 player, and Digital Cable, I'd need a switchbox to handle it all. ![]() Oh, and BTW loup, I got you beat. My dad bought it for $2100 Canadian, with the stand. Sony friend.
