What did you put in it (aka "pinch")? Sounds like it hit an obstruction and then shut itself down.

Got the same malfunction message this morning. Sunroof was closed all night.
Tried to open and it will only move about an inch at a time. Checked around
the opening and found nothing.

Anybody had this and found a quick fix? I want to avoid going to the
dealership if at all possible.

Thanks,

There's a way to recalibrate the anti-trap stuff. I think the process is to "push" the button into the roof and hold for 30 secs or so. I took it to the dealership and before they ever moved it from the service drive my SA had it fixed. I kind of felt stupid.

Thanks MrB! That did it!

After holding button for 30 secs, sunroof tilted up, back down, opened all the way, then back to fully closed.

Saved me a trip to the dealer!

You're welcome. I'm not sure if this is an RTFM issue or not.

Yeah, first thing I did was to RTFM. Did not find any step to re-initialize. Only instruction I
found was take it to the dealer if there was a power failure.

Had the same problem and used the same fix. In fact, I called the service department and they talked me through the recalibration in real time. Evidently, a lot of people have had this problem.

I'm not having such luck -- my sunroof is open about an inch and *apparently* stuck. I started the car, held the sunroof button down (up, actually) for over a minute and nothing happened. Error message still shows, sunroof still open slightly after several attempts.

*Sigh* off to the dealer first thing tomorrow.

If you need to close it, you can do it manually using an allen key in the crank point under the cover of the sunroof control panel.

Yes -- i saw that in the owners manual. I will just park in the garage tonight -- want the car in the full fault state.

I just had this problem today, with both the sunroof and the windows. The window anti pinch malfunction warning actually happened first, when I accidentally pressed down the button for the rear passenger window rather than the front driver's side window. Same thing when I tried the sunroof after testing all of the windows upon receipt of that warning. What I did was basically roll all of them down, then back up, and held the buttons down for a couple seconds and didn't get that warning again. What made it worse was this happened right before getting my car washed - I was literally 10 seconds away from the rinse cycle and wanted to make sure all my windows were up and the sunroof closed... it would have been a bad day if my sunroof had been stuck open during the wash.

Didn't have to take it to the dealer though... big sigh of relief there.
