I could not give a down paymt then my paymt would jump to about 850/month...We verbally talked about the lease and I don't have any paperwork on the specifics...

Thanks
If you are getting this residual for 20k miles per year and assuming you do that much driving, then this deal looks better now. 5k miles per year is equivalent to 4-5% residual or ~ $2000. so not bad at all if you use the miles.

BMW allows you to purchase more miles after you lease the car at a higher rate (a bit more like i think 20 cents per mile).

Bottom line, if you drive that much go for it. if not, then i'd rather get 15k miles and pocket the money.

Deposit is refundable in California as far as i know. do a google search...

fyi - "prem sound" which is the Logic 7 stero comes std. in the 335i. Your deal sounds ok, but it's hard to tell b/c you didn't mention if you got any discount off MSRP. Your only options on the car are Prem and Cold Wether packages; so it's like a $44k car.

Hello,
The cap cost was 43344. You're right, prem sound is std. I didn't mean to include that. It should have been Sport Package. the MSRP was 44920, so only about 1600 off. not much.
Thanks,
- SR

I think $1,600 off MSRP is not bad for a 335i Coupe with an MSRP of <$45k. I ended up with about $2,500 off MSRP ($51,990), so I think it's relative...the higher the price, the more potential discount you can get. Your deal sounds ok, although I bet some around here will say that you could do better. If you feel good about, then go for it!

I don't think this is bad. A lot of the posters claiming high discounts aren't factoring in the markup to the finance department (e.g. $825 aquisition/bank fee and 0.0004 MF mark-up)
You aren't paying a mark-up for either. $200 up-front savings and the MF mark-up would equate to around $1000 over a 36 month term.

Hi, I would like to become a first time BMW owner! The lease on my Acura is up on
1/26/07 and I have been given the following lease offer:

335i, six speed, sport package, cold weather, metallic paint.

Price - $43,270 (same as MSRP), Residual Value - $25,962, Base Payment - $624.39, Total Payment (7% tax) - $668.10, Security Deposit - $900.00, Cash Down - $1,000.

ps I assume I would have to order the car soon to take delivery in late January?

Any tips/advice? Thanks!

I think you should shop around a bit more. Get a better offer in writing (try to get at least $1000 off MSRP if you can) and take that back to this dealer to see if they can do even better. btw - 6-8 weeks from order to delivery is typical.

Sounds like you already talked to the dealer but didn't get some key #s MF (money factor), cap cost, aquisition fee and residual (which you did get). If you are informed enough you will actually be able to calculate the payment based on these numbers.

Also the top of this thread has a sticky that is updated with the latest MF and aquistion fee available from BMWFS you need to know these number because if you don't the dealer is likely to mark them up which he shouldn't if you are willing to pay MSRP. Also check out (search) on MSD (multiple security deposits) they can save you money if you have extra dollars to put down.

There are also multiple xls spreadsheets in the forum that will crunch the numbers for you.
I didn't bookmark them because I built my own.

Here are the November BMWFS lease rates:
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...51#post2004751

Two other key pieces of information you didn't post term (36 month) and mileage (12k/yr)
I assume? This is based on your 0.60 residual value which is correct assuming its a coupe.

Thanks for the great advice - I also got some tips from another poster on "ask a dealer."

It is a 36 month-12k/yr lease. Looking at the other posts, I will negotiate harder for sure.

The small local BMW Dealer already told me that due to supply and demand, they do not follow BMW's suggested money factors or lease offers.

I will do more research on this site as well.

Thanks again!!

Hello,
I just got a revised set of numbers from a dealer (an excellent dealer by the way in northern NJ):

2007 BMW 335i Sedan
6 speed manual
Premium Package
Cold Weather
Sport Package
Metallic Paint

MSRP: 44920
Invoice: 41325
MF: .00101
Residual: 61%
Cap cost: 42400 (1075 over invoice)
36 months / 15k per year.
Monthly: $525

1st payment: $525
Security: $4400
Sales Tax: $1280 - Rolled into payment
Registration: $185
Bank Fee: $625
Total at signing: $5735

To be delivered in March '07 (at my request - I don't need one for a while)

Let me know what you think.

I also wanted to thank the folks on this board. In the past week I have gotten an insane amount of information and have saved a bundle.

Thanks!

- SR

I actually did things in a slightly wrong order, I placed my order (delivery in feb) although never got prices in firm for the lease rates.

This is very important because I want to lock into the rates before the new year...

What exactly are the key numbers that I need to get locked into, from my understanding they are

1. Money Factor
2. Cap Cost
3. Aquisition Fee
4. Residual

Is there anything i'm needed? I plan to call and ask my dealer for these so if something is missing (I don't want something to haunt me later) please let me know

Thanks

dealers do that just in case you're stupid. believe it or not lots of people end up pay more than 100% of the car within the first 3 years. That's why i always have my lease spreadsheet and my laptop when i visit dealers!

Those are the key fees for understanding how the lease works, but you also need to make sure there are no other fees tacked in elsewhere. Typically, dealers will charge a "documentation fee" or similar that is separate and apart from any pass-through fees for registering the car; in some cases, this amount is limited by state law. Dealers can add any other fees they want (like prep fees, etc.); the most audacious add something like "Market Adjustment" or "A.D.P.", which literally stands for "Additional Dealer Profit". The dealer may try to add the document fees, etc. after the entire deal is finalized, claiming that they "charge these fees to everyone" and that they "can't be waived." That's total B.S., of course.

One other thing--I wouldn't necessarily "ask" about any of this. You have all of the information you need on this forum. You know what the residual from BMW FS is, you know what the "sell rate" on the MF is, and you know what the acquisition fee is and what it can permissibly be marked up to. Having all that information, I'd probably contact the dealer and say, "look, I know the lease rates are good this month. I want to lock those in before the car is delivered. Here's the deal I'd like to see." Then give them the numbers. If your dealer starts quoting unreasonable numbers back, call some other dealers and see what you can do. I assume your deposit is refundable...

Does anyone have any thoughts on my deal? Should I move forward? Can't decide if I'm getting a fair deal and that the car can arrive before March if I sign Jan 2?

335i sedan with almost everything....

MSRP $51,500
Sales Price $49,500
Sales Tax $1100. (financed in the lease payment)
Title, Registration $100
Residiual Value $37,300 (73%)
Money Factor 0.0021500
Acquisition Fee $0
Security Deposit $0
Monthly Payment 715 including tax
Total Payments $17,160 (715 x 24 payments. NO MONEY DOWN OR UP FRONT except $100 for registration)
Delivery Mid to late February...is this realistic?

Thanks in advance to anyone who posts a reply. Would love to pull the trigger!
