Iridium Spark Plugs......

.....RULE!!!

I put them in at the weekend and have felt an immediate difference.

She is not more powerful or anything but she picks up quicker, is smoother and seems to have more power lower down the rev range.

For 50 Pounds ($90) i recon it is a bargain!!

NGK Iridium IX are brilliant!

Awesome, I've been thinking about some of them myself, haven't decided between Denso and NGK yet though.

Pirate, did your friend with the denso's notice the same kind of performance you did?

I'm sure they all work well but dont you think some of it is just from the head?? With a little upgrade everytime to the car it always feels stronger, or from my point of view that is.

Nope, its not an illusion, my old plugs were fried and needed replacement.

Are the iridiums really 90 dollars? Thats a ton of money just for spark plugs. Does that come with wires and all kinds of other stuff too? Also are iridiums the best plugs you can buy and where could I get them? How do they compare to the bosch and other plugs? Thanks

Chizo - A very good point, but there is definitly a difference in the car. no doubt about it!

Bmwcat - I heard they are very good too but am not a big fan of multiple prongs on a sparkplug, i understand the concept of why there are more but am not a fan myself.

AW328i - I drove my mates car before and after and although it was smoother, i didn't detect the same difference as i did with the NGK's. He agreed after driving mine that the NGK seemed to make a bigger difference (although very small in reality).

Useful info here - http://www.ngkspark.com.au/pages/bulletins/T01-7.htm

I dont live in the US, but found this if it is any help to my friends over the pond - http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...4&autoview=sku

Did you change the plugs, wires and cap?

My understanding is that you need to change the whole system to see the benefit which is the reduction in electricity and amps needed to spark the engine which will give you more acceration and fuel economy. Although, we are talking very little.

Anybody know the number for the iridum ngk's. I want to get some for my 94 325i so if anyone could tell me which ones I need that would be helpful. Also Iwas thinking of getting them in a colder version than what the stock calls for. Any info would be appreciated thanks.

Yeah I did a little research and could not find them for the M50, apparently Densos are the only way to go if you want iridium. And at $12 each they are not cheap either.

12 diollars each man that sucks. These plugs better be worth it. Can anyone show me a site that has the exact plugs I need for the m50 engine. Also are there any [plugs that are equivalent to ngk iridiums but at a lower cost? Thanks

The Denso part number is IK20 I do believe. See I would think Densos would be better due to the smaller electrode and the u-groove design. Performance of the plugs can also be related to engine condition, and maybe that's why Pirate felt a bigger difference with the NGKs.

I just ordered some ngk BKR7EIx plugs. They dont show that they will fit with the engine but I did cross referecning and found that they should work. These are a colder plug as well so hopefully they will run a bit better.

The site i use says that the ones you need are BKR6EIX

According to this site http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/pages/technical/ngkjpg.htm, the ones above would run a bit cooler.

As for the difference in reality.....i doubt it is very noticeable and the ones you have ordered will be as brilliant as mine!
