Central Locking problems after battery replacement. Ideas?

Posted this in the General section - but it was suggested I post here as well - here goes.

This all pertains to our 2003 X5 3.0.

Hadn't driven the car for several weeks - and found the battery dead the other day. Jumped it (carefully following directions in manual) - drove it around for a while - seemed to restore a reasonble charge.

However - the keys/fobs no longer work to lock or unlock the car. Must insert the key in the drivers door handle. This manual method works as expected. But the keys/fobs don't work anymore. ALSO: The lock/unlock button inside the car no longer works.

Having had weird behavior in my 540i when the battery was near-dead, I decided to try replacing the battery. Did that, but that has not improved anything. Still have the same problems.

I have tried the following:
-- Checked all central locking fuses - all ok.
-- Tried to reprogram both keys (via the directions found elsewhere on this forum) - no response. Did this before and after replacing the battery.
-- Replaced the battery.

So now I'm out of DIY ideas. Anybody have any other bright ideas?

You may need to charge the keys or it could be the key to key memory link up. Dealer may need to re-program the module.
