Keyless remote issues
Hi
Does anyone know if you need to reprogram your keyless remote after you change the battery? When I got my 95 525i, the guy said the battery was dead in the key so I ordered a new one, put it in but it still doesnt work. If it needs reprogrammed, any ideas on how to do that? Thanks in advance Nathan |

I had a VW remote key and when I noticed my range getting shorter and shorter, I figured it must be weak batteries so I replaced it and it worked fine. No difference from a bimmer. Both are lazer welded keys. The program is in the chip so it isn't the programming it must be the chip or it could be the transmitter. The battery is power for the transmitter. Have you dropped it alot and crushed it or even dropped it in water? Sometimes cell phones waves can alter a circuitry meaning having your phone very close to your keys. My sis had her digital camera in her bag and phone and after a while it couldn't read the memory card. She got a new memory card and it couldn't read it. Just a theory but cellular waves are known to interfere with gadgets sometimes...

the key does look kind of beat up...I havent personally dropped it or anything. When I took it apart to put the new battery in, parts went everywhere. I put it back together the only way they would fit with the new battery and nothing.
