E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135. |

If they sold that in the US. I would terminate this z4 lease faster than you can say 1 series lol.

Finally, something I'd replace my M Coupe with! Bring that to the US and the only thing left will be to find a company to put a limited slip in it.

Nice picture, thanks for the post Dawg
That would be one awesome and sick car for tuning. I would dump my 130i here in Taiwan in a heartbeat for that car. An update on my 130i engine, this new engine is really good compared to the last engine in the E46 BMWS. I have just over 11k on the clock now and it seems to be getting stronger or loosening up . I can just imagine how nice it would be to have the new 135iTT

They are lots of fun to drive. I went to pick up my wife from work tonight and this car is so much fun to drive with that back end hanging out Taiwan offers a person place to practice their driving skills with these various streets that they have. There is No Winchels, Krispy Cremes or Dunkin Donuts here so one does not have to worry about someone waiting around the other corner I need to post another video of my 130i one day soon. I will put my name on th elist for this car if BMW decides to make it and export it to Taiwan. Tune it here and then maybe ship it to Dubai once all the work is done on it

That car is fantastic. I just drove my e90 hard to make an errand and I was again reminded of how freaking huge that car is.

It seems like BMW definatley has an 3er market in the U.S.
LOL. I am still not feeling the 1er idea though, Every L.A. 16 year old will have one much like they do now with the 325i

I was going to say I didn't really care if everyone drove one, but then I thought of how much I enjoy not seeing other M Coupes all over the place.
I just borrowed a friends E21 320i for a few weeks and it's stunning how much more fun it is then a current 3er, or even his M3. Sure, it's not fast, but it's precise and direct in a way that most modern cars outside of the Elise/Exige aren't. No power steering is incredible, and aside from the lack of power and rear drums, there wasn't much that would really need to be "brought up to date" to allow it sell well. Throw some airbags in it, maybe reassess the crash structures and stick a modern body on it and it would sell like crazy. It still drives me sideways that I can't get a Cayman S or M Coupe with cloth seats. If Elises weren't put together with Elmers and plastic, I'd be all over one of those. They've got the right idea, now someone like BMW or Porsche just need to execute it properly. Having said all that, I've driven a few 1er's in Germany and they're more direct and enjoyable than the E46's and E90's I've driven. 300 base hp and plenty of room for more can cure a few things like power windows and cruise control.

No, you got it backwards, BMW NA doesn't want to hurt sales of more profitable cars by bringing over the 1 series. They just tell you a 1 series won't sell as an excuse.

I think you'll see a 135 or 235 coupe and maybe a sedan, but they won't be cheap enough to attract the tuner crowd.

Well you might be right they don't want to hurt 3-series sales. But those same 1-series enthusiasts can go and buy A3/GTI (and probably MINI) instead of another BMW, so it's hard to see which effect is bigger. For example, there is pretty much no way I am going to buy a piggy 3-series in the foreseeable future, as powerful and torquey as it might get.

BMW is supposed to be working on high output 4 cylinders for the 1 series.
I think I'd almost take a high revving high output four in this car, so it would be light. With the 3.0L turbo in it, it's going to be heavy. Hell I'd take either one.

They must have a lot of test equipment in the back for it to sag so much.

I have heard people in Ca spotting Mexico plates on 1 series so you could probably by one down there drive her over at least have a track car.

If you look at the number plate it is actually the same car, just from an angle where
you dont see the handle & doorline sticker.
