2007 BMW 328i Red Light Warning!!!!

You guys won't believe this story!!! I just recently purchased a bran new 328 a week ago and on the same day a red "Steering Lock" light appears on the display. I checked the manual immediately and it tells me to bring it into a near by shop right away. So I did what any other responsible driver would of done..... but its been in the shop for a week!!! The service techs and mechanics have no clue whats causing the problem and I was told that they would have to e-mail the engineers in Germany to find an answer... Can you believe that!!!! The admitted that the car was way to new and didn't have an answer at the moment. The big shocker for me was finding out that I had to return the loaner car after three days, otherwise, I would have to come out of pocket for the remaining days!! Unbelievable!!! I must admit the service tech is doing his best... but I'm still pissed off about the whole deal. Have any of you guys had the same experience?? I thought BMW prided themselves on Customer Service??? I received much better service when I had my C230 Kompressor.

Unfortunately, BMW customer service is up to the individual dealers. Some are good, and some are not so good.

I would have a polite talk with the manager of the dealership, and explain the problem. Having an unsolvable problem with the car is bad enough, but yanking back the loaner is just absurd.

If this goes on too long, you likely have a remedy under your state's lemon law.

Where did you read that?

Loaner car policy is on a per dealer basis. Did you buy/lease the car from the dealer that is servicing it? If so, I'd be talking with someone in authority to assure you were with a car while they figure out what's up with yours. After all, you're still making payments while they are smoking butts and scratching their heads, or surfing Bimmerfest for a solution.
