Is it hard to change out the wood trim for the aluminum

I was thinking of making a change to my car (been a little bored lately) and thought that I might change out the wood for the aluminum trim.

Is it expensive to do and how hard is it ?

Any advice ? ?

I don't think it's that hard to replace .. but it seems to be expensive. I've been toying with the same idea. Circle BMW shows ~ $408 for the coupe set (according to their web site). That's too steep for me..

Anyone know of a place to find a more reasonable deal?

(Also, Alan .. what % is your tint??)

Alan, I am sure you can find someone to swap with you. I heard it is not hard to do. The trim pieces just snap into place.

$400 sounds like more than I'd want to spend, maybe I'll just wait for someone to sell theirs !!!

The tint is 20% all around. It's pretty dark and I don't think it's legal in most states (if any).

Ben - that's a good suggestion but I want to keep the wood trim also.

Get someone's glossy black/gray/sand trim, and just spray paint it with Krylon matte chrome paint. It's a very good match. The only difference is that the painted finish isn't cool to the touch.

Well, people need to keep their grubby little hands off my trim anyway!

Good idea, Hack .. I wonder how durability would be though? Especially on the front arm rests -- the seat belt clip always seems to clunk into those trim pieces..

nobody wants to touch your trim anyway . . . or maybe it's that nobody wants to give you trim !?!?

great suggestion Hack, I appreciate it . . . too bad I barely like to take the time to clean my car let alone a project that might take me more than 10 minutes to do . . .

I guess I'll scrap the whole idea and find something else to do !!
