Sunroof will not tilt open

HI Guys,

My sunroof will open, but in the tilt mode it just slides back a few inches but never tilts open. Any help will save ne a 45 minute drive to the dealership.

Thanks.

Jim

let's try this again...

with the car at the ACC/ON but not started position, press close and hold for 30 seconds. if that does nothing, you're SOL.

There is a great write-up with pictures of this repair on the Roadfly E39 board; included part numbers and step-by-step procedure. If you have the patience, it sounds like a reasonable DIY that will save you a bundle from the dealer (I think he had a $1400 estimate).

Can you give us a link? Checked the Roadfly E39 board but can't seem to find it!

It seems the pnly way my sunroof lifts is holding the button forward for 30 seconds. Is this normal operation or should it lift with a simple push (within a few seconds) with the sunroof in the closed position?
