Some CPT 8000 Bluetooth Adapter News

I've read through the '05-'06 posts on this site regarding Bluetooth adapters for CPT 8000 phones. What a glaring deficiency for such a great car.

I also pushed an inquiry to BMW USA customer relations, asking specifically about my 2003 745i, (prod. 11/02). Perhaps this information will be more trustworthy than earlier indications of a CPT 8000 upgrade by early Fall '06.

My e-mail to BMW USA returned this response, dated 20 October, 2006 :

Thank you for contacting BMW of North America, LLC regarding your 2003 BMW 745i. The 745i is a great model vehicle, and we hope it is serving you well.

The only handset available for your vehicle is the CPT8000. Due to new federal regulations, the CPT8000 phones are no longer being activated for new service.

BMW is currently in the process of developing Bluetooth technology for our vehicles. We are trying to keep pace with the changing wireless market, and we understand our customers desire the latest technologies to be available to them.

At this time, we anticipate Bluetooth technology to be available in your vehicle by the end of this year. Please stay in touch with us through our website, www.bmwusa.com, and your local authorized BMW center for future updates on Bluetooth technology.

Yea - we have heard that before.. I think they have said that it was going to be ready each quarter this year...

By the time it is ready - my car will be ready for trade in.
