New Z3 owner
Hi everyone,
I just purchased my first BMW z3. My boyfriend purchased a 2000 topaz blue automatic, and after driving it, I decided that even though I already have a sensible Toyota Highlander, I had to have a fun car of my own. We recently found a 2001 topaz blue z3 2.5 5 speed, with a boot and a hardtop for a great price and couldn't pass it up! Just wanted to say hello and i look forward to learning lots here

Hey Skippershe! Looks like we're both newbies to this forum. I too recently obtained a 2002 Z3 3.0 as a gift from my husband. The body, paint and engine are in good shape but the interior needs to be completely restored. Our home is a place where rescue animals come to live and be loved and mistreated cars are brought back to their natural beauty. I've already taken care of all the nit-picky stuff that was broken and damaged so it's off to the upholstery shop for a new top, headliner and window, seats and a 'dye' job on the side panels and boots.
It's also good to have a...well...somewhat local Z3 pal. Last edited by Indy Girl; 10-09-2012 at 10:37 PM. |

Welcome. And yes this is a great forum to learn from.
Make sure you do all the maintenance. Is this your DD? With LA traffic, 5 speed is a pain. I'm local as well. Only drive to train station so I don't have to deal w/that LA traffic.

Welcome! - and I find it refreshing the "girl" is driving the 5 speed and the boyfriend has the automatic. Congrats on the new purchase, you'll love it. I have a 330Ci (manual) that is my daily driver, and a Z3 (manual) that is my toy. My husband drives the 325xiT (automatic). hehehe.... girls have all the fun.

Hi IgotBMW,
I have a 10 year old son, so I have to have my Highlander to shuttle kids around. I only work a mile from home, so no commuting...Guess my Z3 is just my fun little get-around-town car I didn't really "want" a 5 speed, it just happened to work out that way. I haven't decided yet if this is my "forever" Z3...I really had my heart set on finding a bright red one, but until I find it, this one will suit me just fine

HI tobandals,
Loved your post and had a good chuckle! At first I wanted the automatic, but after driving the 5 speed, I think I'll keep it! Besides, my car's gonna be waaay faster than his, cause I got the 2.5! LOL |
