Test drove an M5 and 750i sport yesterday

Wanted to finally figure out which way to go - I have been struggling. Both cars Black sapphire/ black leather. Both awesome. The 7er had the new 20" wheels. OMFG. The M5 was loaded - every option, incl the full leather.

I actually drove the 750 from the new car lot over to the used car lot where they had the M5. By the time I got there, my brother and I were saying "Lets not even drive the M5 - we're getting the 750". Then we drove the M5... The power, the exhaust note. Wow.

Anyway the drives cleared up nothing. I want them both. Ugh. I put a deposit down on an M5. Have to provide details on color etc tomorrow. But I am still torn. For those of you waiting on your new 750i's, you are going to be very, very happy. And even if/ when get my M5 I am going to be very, very jealous.

Yes, I am very, very happy. I have an '07 Black Sapphire/black Sport and The 20" wheels MAKE the car, no question about it!

M5/750i Sport: 2 very different cars in many ways, IMO. Appearance and performance, for starters.

Good luck on the M5. I opted for the 750i instead, and I agree, it is (and was) a tough decission on which to get. I have a 550i which I used for playing, so I guess I have the best of both worlds.

hey can i ask you a question about your '07? does it have the power folding mirrors? if so, is it only via the button or can it be programmed to autofold when you lock your car?

That's a very good question. I'm still at the bottom end of the learning curve with the various electronics in this car. However, I do recall reading the manual where it describes, including a picture, how the mirrors fold when a 3rd button next to the mirror adjustment location is pressed. Nothing about auto. mode or it being programmable. I have a business meeting tonight and will take a glance at the manual one more time when I go out to be sure.

I'll let you know either way...

Just picked up my '07 tonight. Wow.

At any rate, I asked that very question, as the mirrors on my parents' Lexus auto-fold. I was told that it's when you push the button only... no programming. I haven't looked at the manual to verify that though.

XZLR8 is correct; only by 3rd button. I did try to look in Settings (iDrive) and couldn't find anything to program this feature.
