Procedure for fixing seat belt presenter?

So a friend of mine (unfamiliar with the car) got into the passenger side last night, somehow became entangled by the presenter, and when it went to retract after a minute, it popped off. It looks to me like it just detached, not broke off, so I think there's a way to pop it back in.

Anyone have experience with this, or should I just let the dealer do it?

I read in a previous thread that someone had to just press it back in. I't called a 'seat belt butler'. I have prevented any problems with it on my 328XI by removing the fuse for it.

Sure enough ... all I had to do was hold down the little spring-loaded "arm" and push it back in. It made a popping sound the first time it extended, but was fine after that.

THis happened to me too. I pushed it back in, and it "presented" all right, but the fell off again as it retracted. Next time, when I pushed it back in place, I grabbed hold of the fixed portion to get a bit more leverage and pushed the two together a bit harder. I then heard a click that I didn't hear the first time. No problmes since.
