Yes, on the buttons behind the 1 and 2 parts of the steering wheel if refering to this diagram:

3------------4

Its a steering wheel.

Is this true for all 7 series. I thought you could only shift up with the sport models. Please advise.

No, all 7's '03+ can shift up and down in Manual mode. 02s can only downshift (stupid).

THis explains why I cant shift up. I have an 02. I agree this is stupid. What is the purpose of being able to downshift?

To hold a gear on hills. Yeah, it's stupid, they made steptronic on European 7's but not USA 7's. There really isn't anything different other than the software and the steering wheel (extra buttons on the back of the Steptronic ones).

For some reason when they give me the 325, I always you the little sport shifter. For some reason It always redlines. For some reason the car always makes this popping noise when I turn it off. Maybe I am driving it too hard. The # series is not all that bad. IT's just like half the car that you are use to driving. Look on the bright side, you could get a mitsubishi galant. Trust me I understand your frustrations with the three as I complain too, but it could always be worse. As far as downshifting... it's good for when some mustang wants to fly by you and you have to downshift to catch him and show him your bimmer can smoke him.
