I wanted to see if the shift knob is a lighter color than the rest of the wood (which it is, sorry bro).

I've been trying to decide if I should push the dealer to order a new one to see if it matches better.

The funny thing is I never realized it until after the first year I owned my car and that was only because I took a picture of my interior once and noticed it in the picture.

I also noticed the same thing in a loaner car I had . . . I am starting to think it is the norm

Is this the kind of stuff you lose sleep over? Well, I didn't do the steptronic shift modification until I had the stupid bezel that said - / + instead of + / -, so I'm sure I'll be going nutso now about my shift knob now.



Yeah, I guess the wood is different.

I think that is normal..now I will be looking at mine to see if it matches..thanks

Never felt natural to shift with the default push forward to upshift, pull to downshift... sorta working against the forces. Glad I made the switch, and will give me practice for SMG, which also has the same revised shift pattern. :thumb:

Not on purpose. . . anyway if I want to get everyone paranoid. Just go out and look at the painted bodyside molding and see how well it's lined up with the other painted molding next to it . . .

Sorry Alan, but there is the overhang over the dash strips that we all have that shades them and the angle of the light hitting the strips is different. This picture is in natural light. Many people use a flash which causes the gearshift knob to appear lighter. The knob is exactly the same as the surround with the window switches, same light and angle. Take a look at the four walls of a room with color in your home, they all look like a different color depending upon how the light hits it.:thumb:

I understand what your saying and it's a very good point !!

You've given me the inspiration to tell my dealer I want change my shift knob to match perfectly since it can be done.

Yours is the first that has that darkness to it. The weird thing is everyone's dashboard has that darker wood while the shifter is slightly lighter in color.
