?'s about Performance Center Delivery
Hey all,
I have some questions about Performance Center Deilvery. So far, I've read a few great write-ups on the actual deilvery experience in Spartanburg, SC. (http://www.my02.com/pages/330.htm) I'm posting this message to get pointers about preparing for performance delivery from people who have been through the process. What steps are there prior to arriving in Spartanburg? So far, I've confirmed a Thursday PM arrival and Friday Delivery in SC in February. Will I get a mailing from BMWNA that has more details? What about things like key programming, data disks for NAV, etc? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks, david '03 330Ci Jet Black, Black Montana, PP, SP, Nav, Xenon, Heated Seats, PDC |

You should get several letters from the PC in the weeks prior to delivery. One of the letters will be from your delivery specialist IIRC and you can get in contact with him/her to go over any questions you might have. As far as programming options like the clown nose, daytime running lights, etc., my salesman at the dealership made a list and passed that on to my delivery guy in Spartanburg. I'm not sure about the NAV discs, but I'm sure the guys at the PC can answer that. Overall it was a very smooth process and I never felt that something was being left out. I think it's the waiting that makes you crazy..!
Make sure to take your camera/video camera, it is a blast! Nice car btw...

The PC wasn't able to program my car...they didn't have the computers. Your dealer should be able to do it after you get back though. The Nav disc should be waiting for you with the car. In my case, it was delivered to the dealer and they fed ex'ed it down to S.C.
Chris is right though, you'll get several letters from them including phone numbers and contacts. Don't forget to take your license plate if you're transferring. B. |

We did a PCD on the 01 M Rdstr the day before Z3 Homecoming.
The best advise I can give you is to take it slow... It's a lot of fun, takes up the whole day and it's all over before you know it. We were treated like Royalty and everything goes very smoothly.

The Nav disk will only be waiting for you, IF your dealer orders it in time. Then you pick it up from your dealer and take it to the PC with you so they can install. Or they can send it directly to the PC. BUT, it is all up to your dealer to make it happen, and everything needs a week notice. |

great advice!
Thanks for the advice. I'm really excited about going to Spartanburg!
I may try to visit my dealer before i go to SC to pick up the floor mats and nav disk. I'm drving to SC so the floor mats won't be a problem to take with me. Am I leaving anything out? Anything else I should pick up from my dealer before going? Thanks again! D

Some verifications on what has already been discussed...
1 - The dealer is responcible for the NAV disk. Mine ordered it 2 weeks ahead of time and gave it to me 1 week before my PC delivery date. 2 - The PC can program the car, however you do need to make sure your sales representative sends this info to the PC ahead of time. I agree with the 1 week rule here. However make sure that the PC programmed everything before you leave. I didn't notice that the auto-lock at 3MPH feature was not turned on until it was to late. The dealer was happy to do it but I could have saved a trip by verifying it with the PC first. 3 - Check with your sales representative first, but you should not need to take the floormats with you. I've gone on 2 PC deliveries and they have always come with the car. They are even able to install OEM mud flaps, alarms, etc. All you should need is proof of purchase, valid DL, proof of insurance and plates / temp tags. Enjoy!

1) Pay for the car.
2) You are supposed to get a mailing, but it might not come (ours didn't) The only thing you need to know is to go to baggage claim and use the phone there (big board with auto dial various hotels) to call the Marriott for pickup (since 9/11 they don't meet you at the gate). Tell them you are a PC Delivery and they will send the guy in a 540i Touring. If not, they send the red bus. 3) We did not do a key programming sheet at our dealer, and the PC told us they did not have th computer to do such programming. Not sure what is up, but it does look like they will program if if they have enough lead time. It is not a big deal. The car is setup not badly as factory default. Once you get home to your dealer they can tweek it for you. 4) Don't know about nav as we didn't get it. BMW nav is not so great for the money. But neat thing, my Garmin uses the same Navtech data and the entire PC track is shown on the nav. ![]() 5) And most important, relax and have fun.

I am nearly certain that they already had the NAV discs ready with the car. We had filled out a form with our dealer and NavTech. Take lots of pics! |
