new buyer
I am a new buyer in the market for a 330. I started off lookig at the 330i and now am thinking the 330ci is the way to go. I have been on line visiting this forum quite a bit and also doing quite a bit of research on Euro Delivery. I have even built a spreadsheet to do lease calculations. Seeing its getting to the end of the month in a few days I am trying to figure out whether it is worth it do european delivery or pay a little bit more in the US and potentially still save money. I guess the money I spend on a trip to Europe could be attached to the price of the car in the US to equate the pricing of the car I would buy from Europe.
please let me know if the pricing I am coming up with for euro delivery is correct and what should the US cost equivalent be with out travel expenses. Euro delivery on 330Ci came to $38,735. this includes sports, premium,Xenon and $1000 profit for the dealer What is the US equivalent i should pay and is the euro price the right price? base 29285 premium 2640 sports 1090 rear fold down 430 xenon 635 auto 1210 destination 695 profit 1100 Metallic 430 Leather 1320 total 38835 please help thanks for all the info I have gotten so far. I only have a few days left. |

I think your pricing may be a little off - take a look at www.eurobuyers.com for detailed pricing information. For the 330Ci, your base cost looks wrong (ED should be $30,130), leather is included in the PP, and fold down seats are listed as STD on the 330Ci.
You can see from the pricing information that the ED cost is about $2,400 less than the US cost. If you assume that dealers will work at the same profit number for either ED or USD, then the $2,400 is how much you have to "spend" in Europe and still break even. Some dealers will work a tighter deal on an ED, so you could save a little more. Others, however, don't seem as willing to come off of ED MSRP. Most likely, the ED is only going to be a good idea for you if you truly want to go to Europe and enjoy the experience. I'm doing an ED in March - my deal is $1,000 off ED MSRP, which is not a great deal, but also not too bad. |

You should negotiate from the confidential dealer wholesale price (which can be found on Eurobuyers.com) and add the confidential dealer wholesale price for all the options and offer an additional $1000 as dealer profit. That is what I did for my 525i I am picking up in Munich in March. I compiled the offer using the Rizzo method and faxed it to thirty dealerships in my state and the three closest states to mine and I got seven dealerships that accepted the deal. With this method, you have to be prepared to drive some distance to take delivery of the vehicle once it gets to the US. Remember that the car does not come out of the dealership's allocation, and they are mostly passing paper on the european delivery. $1000 is enough profit.

psmith... how far away did you have to go? what was the closest dealer to Louisiana that accepted, if you don't mind my asking? (PM is fine).
I'm going to start looking for a dealer next month for an ED. My local dealer will not budge on price, so it's time to look elsewhere. Thanks |

They are identical to what is in my salesman's notebook and to what you get from places like Edmunds. So if you believe those sources . . . if not, I don't know where else one would look.
