Question Question for the 'Leather Duo'

Why does that subject sound 'adult filmish'? Hmmm... anyways, I've got a few things I'd like to try on my Coupe, and at least one of them involves leather. Not to sell. Not to compete. Not to in any way defame the name that is LeatherZ and all that it stands for.

I've searched the internet over (finished it!) and cannot find Napa grade leather as used in our M cars. Can you guys tell me where I could order black and maybe grey high quality leather for automotive use? We have a family friend who has one of those $8,000 embroidery things at her house, and I have a few things I want to try with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Oh yeah, and I told Whalen that after he perfects his parking brake, we need brushed steel wheel tabs!

Thanks guys! I don't post much here, usually on the R$*dfly boards, but it looks like most of the old school intellect has migrated.

Adam

Try BMW. A hide of Nappa leather is not much (of course there is a reason for that). If you are doing custom work, though, spend the bucks and step up to something better.

And surely you will not be embroidering any copyrighted logos, correct? That will get you a nice framed letter from BMW NA that is personally signed.

Make sure you do not use cotton thread.

Hides from BMW are in the $400 range. Usually 55 square feet, sometimes 22 square feet for the same price. But you cannot complain and you cannot return them. Aftermarket hides, like the ones we prefer to use are in the $800 range.

If you need smaller pieces, let Andy know and he can sell you sections by the square foot. We are due to order a hide of Dark Gray anyway, and if we can sublet some of the square footage it might work out for both of us. Gray is a slow seller. Maybe you guys could split a hide in half. Width-wise, of course.

One more thing... We'll have bright (mirror) chrome wheel tabs in a few weeks.

BMW uses chrome for E46 trim, then brushes it to look matte chrome. Maybe we could match a brused WSM finish.

I just need small amounts...

And any embroidering will be for personal use and not for the eyes of any BMW police

I just need a piece of black to match my M Coupe interior that's like 2.5' x 1'. Any idea what that would run me?

And speaking of porno names, I don't know if you guys work anywhere that serves coffee, but it always makes me laugh when I see the two complementing coffee creamer and fine sugar containers at the office. Labeled "Dixie Crystals" and "Cream White" Who was the marketing genius behind that one?

Ok. I digress. People are going to think I'm perverse, when all I want is some leather for unpublished purposes!

I can do that. I have some Black Nappa from when we recovered my door caps. Give me a call tomorrow and we can figure out a price. 513.706.1834

Who is doing that for you?
I would think that chrome tabs would be a distraction like the chrome ring rear view mirror is, especially in a roadster.

Andy found a guy in California. I would think it'd be distracting too, but people have asked for them. We'll give it a shot.

door airbag plaques too.
