spray-painted my grille ! what you guys think ?

Cost me less than 30USD lol

all i got was,
220 and 400 sandpaper,
flat(matte) black spray, KRYLON(company name)
thinner

time required " 2-4 hours "

when i went to ACE hardware and saw this spray on display i was quiet hesitant on getting it, it was written " no sandind or priming, for use inside and outside on most plastic. dries in 15 minutes or less " itfirst i was skeptical on this product & was like yeah right, it will just peel off after a day or two but it has been almost a month and its still there.

The annoying and a lengthy bit was sanding it down, since i didnt have any equipment to use and tbh didnt need any coz i got the best equipment ever MY HANDS. started with 220 and finished with 400, sprayed 4 layers & i must say its pretty good.

Now i did the frame/contour/ of the grille separately just to try it out & see if it lasts & doesnt peel or fade or whatever & believe me guys if it lasts under the weather over here (+45C/+120F) no winter, im sure it will last anywhere lol.

Today i did the fins & the overall grille....so lemmie know what you think, even thho i think gloss black or satin black would look better on the frame/countour of the grille.

best part is i didnt pay anyone anything, i did it myself lol

Thats a lot of patience to sand all that detail.
Did you notice any delamination on the plastic.
On mine I see what looks like a thin plastic coating peeling off in certain areas.
Also like it was protective wrap that was not removed.
Anyway, looks good and I may try it too.

3M makes a matte black vinyl and the finish would be a lot closer to your paint job. Good job though. Looks better now then the chrome.

Nope i didnt notice any delamination or protective coating around it, it was just chrome, however i didnt completely remove the chrome coz by hand it would take me weeks lol, what i did was abrasion, as long as the frame wasn't shinning and you when you looked at it you didnt get the mirror effect but the chrome was still there, so than i used 400 to make it smoother, you could use 600/800/1000 to make it smoother but mine was experimental to see if it sticks & doesnt peel off or anything, so yeah it worked & i just kept it that way.

Well you see i wont say it was easy or short and it had its moments, but i "felt" like doing it i wasnt forcing myself and some great music along the way did the trick . If you don't feel like doing it than dont force yourself to do it, otherwise you will get annoyed and pissed off,it will take ages & you wont complete it.

thnx, lol its funny i remember at a certain period of time my leg went numb coz i was sitting the same way for long durations, but it was fun, and time flew by as i was working on it, holding the grille in every way possible was the best.

im thinking of painting my rims black as well, any suggestions ?

I think it would look great man! Especially because there really isn't any silver on your car anymore. If you can get your hands on some PlastDip, you can try it out and see how you like the look and then if you don't like it, just peel it right off!

If you do like it, either keep the PlastiDip on or get it powdercoated.

Here's a link:

If you do it, you should go with the spray cans
