Logic 7 Buzzing Sound.

I took my car (2002 745I)to the BMW dealer to fix the logic 7 buzzing problem I am experiencing. The buzzing sound seems to be coming from the speakers, but it’s not always there. I guess when the technician looked at it; he didn’t hear anything (just my luck). Just before I get home from the dealer there it is again. I know that others on this board had the same problem. Can anyone please tell me what was done to fix this? What is the bulletin number, if any? Does anyone know a web page where I can view all the bulletins from BMW?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I dont know maybe its that....but there isn't one specifically for Logic 7 that I could see on edmunds...mind you there are other websites which may have more TSBs for the 02 E65s

Thanks for the information BIMMER7. Did you also have this problem with your 7? If yes, what did the dealer do to solve it?

No I didnt... but any small issues like these the dealer does an excellent job of resolving them right away

Is the buzzing noise coming when Logic 7 is at max level? I have brought my 7 to the dealer to fix the same problem 3 times and they always change the amp. A couple hours later, the same buzzing noise (distortion) would be heard again. I don't know what's the deal but I can't keep bringing my car back in for the same audio problem. Right now, I have my Logic 7 at the lowest setting and its a little better, but you can still hear it buzz.

Because here in Toronto temp. varies a lot and sometimes static stops in the colder days due to freezing temperatures which I guess has a correlation

Maybe have the service manager lissen to it or the shop foreman RIGHT when it occurs....and then they be able to diagnose it better!

Thank you guys for all the input. The buzzing sound is not always there, comes and goes. That's why its so hard for the dealer to diagnose.

It seems to be coming from the speakers even when the stereo is turned off (but the remote is still in the ignition). As a matter of fact I have noticed that turning the stereo load, then back down solves the problem (don't understand why). Then I hear it again the next day.

I live in Alberta where it gets pretty cold, even as cold as -30 C. It seems to be doing it no matter what the temperature is. I have taken the car to the dealer once already but they couldn't duplicate the problem as its intermittent. They upgraded the whole car to software ver 24.0 but it did not solve the problem.

Mines only happen when the radio is on. It's like every 30 seconds or so it distorts for about 3-4 seconds.

I had the same problem on my '04. It was a very loud popping sound, as if I was following a truck dropping sand @ 80 mph. It was very annoying and I took the car in and they replaced the amp (computer module) and then had to reprogram the computer so that it would be recognized. All in all, it took them 3 days to order and install the part. I never had another problem with it.

Yep it happened to me too in my 2002 745Li w/31k miles, but since then I have had other issues with the transmission and some really funky error messages popping up even after I removed the key from the car... The dealer finaly kept my car for a week working with BMW Tech's from LA and other places within Ca.
My problem is that I only drive the car maybe once or twice a month, so when ever I would get it back I had no way of knowing if it was really fixed or not until maybe months later. I just got it back about a month ago and I have been driving every day since. Seem to drive better than before, and no more noise from the speaker/radio/cd.
Its hard but you have to get it to the dealer when it's making the static.

Gooch, Do you know what they did to fix the buzzing problem in your car?

After numerous tests, the dealer replaced my cd unit with a new one under warranty and the buzzing is gone . Thank you all for your help.

Glad to hear that....

Mine buzzes too sometimes, usually when I first start the car up and the radio is down.
