I agree. I ran this past my shop and they cautioned against it. Didn't really say they wouldn't do it, just that they wouldn't recommend it just yet.

...so are we to understand that our cars have about 15-18% driveline loss from crank HP to rear wheels? Is that about right?

FYI there was another Z4M that had his car done at this shop about a week before mine exact same flash and his car pulled a 292 from a base of 276. He had better results then I did. I am going to get the car run again this week because of another small mod and I will see how it does. But I would not expect much from this ECU upgrade or any on the S54 engine. I have yet to see anyone Dyno a ECU flash on this engine and get big gains without other mods to compliment.

-Begging you pardon, but 276 to 292hp IS a big gain from software alone!

I agree 100% but some people expect more... Lots of people don't understand how hard it is to squeeze HP out of this engine. I cant think of any other mod for under 1k that will give you this kind of power to the wheels.

Got a phone call from Pete this morning. The new struts - built by Koni this time (and not by TrueChoice) - will arrive in 1 week. He said there shouldn't be any problem, but they'll install those new struts and test them out first.

I thought they were supposed to be in today. Not sure I've been waiting for the same components but I was told today (Sept 12th).

-Let me know if the fronts rattle. If everything is fixed, I'll be petitioning TC to replace mine, since they were supposed to have been fixed by Koni NA before I bought them. The rears should rattle still, due to the type of shock.

I called Pete today to see when I'll be getting my CF roof, but no one answered so I left a message...

I had a chance to chat with TC briefly at last month's Monterey Historic races. He mentioned that Koni has a 9 month lead time for manufacture and that a shipment from them had hit his Ohio warehouse a day or so prior to the race. The front struts are E36 struts with a significantly reduced ride height. The struts he shipped to you, GP20, Gusmiami, and maybe a few others, were hand-fabricated modifications of existing E36 struts.

Update:
Pete called me back and told me that the CF roof for my car should be ready around the 18th, and that it would take about 5 days to ship it.

I also called Dinan. They have supplemental strut bars for the Z4 now, and I'm thinking about getting a set. They are rectangular, and might clash with my BMW strut bar, so I'm going to think about it a bit. I did manage to find out that Dinan's S54 throttle bodies are a straight bolt-on for our S54s, and that they are in development of exhaust, intake and software. The exhaust should be out before the end of the year (I don't care, because the BMS exhaust is perfect ), and the CAI and software (which I DO care about) should be out sometime in the beginning of next year.

I was waiting on the throttle bodies until the software is out...but NEXT YEAR? The car will be out of production by the time they get software out for it.

Yes, exactly, 4 months is a long time when the car's been out since '06 and thats assuming they'll be ready in January. I doubt we'll see the software suddenly appear on New Year's Day. As I've said before, the software can't be THAT MUCH different then the E46. Give us a Stage I for throttle bodies now and upgrade to compensate for new parts (intake, exhaust, cams, etc...) as they become available.

Its the curse of having a low production, slow selling car I guess

Btw, for those of you in Southern CA, there's going to be a BIG meet at Powerchip in Costa Mesa tomorrow. Detailed are at the beginning of this thread:
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...=1#post2648939
As you can tell from my last post, Chris from BMS will be there and I will be bringing the Coupe with the prototype BMS exhaust. The final version is REALLY close to being production ready!

Also, I went on-track with the exhaust yesterday, at Streets of Willow. I have some video and pics. I'll post them ASAP...

Ok, got my pics processed.

On the 14, lots of morning traffic heading toward LA:

Sunset between Palmdale and Lancaster:

The pits, before the driver's meeting:

The track, and Horse Thief Mile about it:

Taped up and ready to go:

There were some cool clouds overhead, so I took some shots:

My RA-1s after 5 track days. They are not officially "good"!

There was a guy there who I am hoping took some pics of the Coupe on-track. If I can get them from him I'll post them. Now to edit the vid...

My pics from the Powerchip Meet organized by Laidback. Lots of fun, got to scare a few people on my ride/drive

Here you can see the titanium color the exhaust tips have turned after my first hard track day with them:

I assume that's your M5 with the Dinan wheels...looks sharp. I need to get myself one of those...they can be had for fairly cheap these days...(either that or an RS6...I would like to drive whatever I get in the Chicago winter)

-No, that's Batman's new M5 (he got it after trading in a less-modified E39 M5). I don't care for the look of Dinan's wheels, that's why mine's on RS-GTs.

Update
I just got off the phone with Jose and he expects the final configuration of the x-pipe to be finished by the end of tomorrow. He suggested to have another local customer come in next week and have the finished exhaust fitted on their car so he could verify that they will fit all Z4 Ms the same. This customer would be entitled to some sort of discount, maybe free labor or something, so call Chris if you're interested in picking up a set!
